I need help with my 180!

hey yall, i was just wondering if any of you guys could give me some tips on my 180! i cant seem to get it down. Thanks so much!xoxo

i just learned to do 180s last year but i might be able to help. cut in with a progessive edge, stand tall at the wake, and at the peak of your jump pull the handle to your back hip.

learn them TS over one wake first this is the easiest way to do it.(dont throw the 180 off the wake use the handle to do it in the air) once you get it this way take an easy progressive edge to land nicely on the second wake after you leave the wake you should begin moving the handle from your front hip to the back hip and making sure you spun all the way then all you have to do is land. if its HS most people have problems getting all the way around. try to overrotate almost so you dont slide out when landiong.

yeah on HS you almost have to rotate your hips a little bit to get than clean landing, but definitly do TS first the boat and rope will pretty much do all the work for you.

yeah, and it may help to grab nose, this way, the boat pulls the rotation for you.

and don't forget the halfcab 180s too!

if you drop your leading hand (the one closest to the boat), it make you spin to 180. also don't try to spin until you're in the air.

try a grab at the top of your jump and then before you reach the wake turn your hips (HEY, Tatumgirl can i get some of those hugs and kisses??????) Wink

Land edging away from the boat, then do a 360, then a 540 and never stop until...ahhhh oh sorry. It's been a long day at work, mmmm beer

It also helps to try them just in flat water first. That way you'll get the feeling of the rotation.

tantrum, my best advise it to keep your body straight, don't anticipate the fall by sticking your butt out, you never land it that way, thats what I see most people doing wrong on 180s, stand tall, and I let go with my lead hand, makes the landing easier....its all in you legs hips....keep your body straight and tall....

ya my dad used to do that too i told him to hold it like a boarder and he wouldnt listen. one day we are out with a bunch of other people that we had ridden with before and they told him to change and he listened. he cant stand me giving him advice. my friend holds the handle like that too. its much better to hold it like a boarder would i dont know why exactly but i know it helps

alright alright, haha im going out tommorrow and im gonna do my best to hold it like a boarder....i just started holding it weird one day, and ive stuck to it ever since.

Hell I used to hold the handle like that... my sis had taught wakeboarding and she told me it was harder that way, but I didn't listen... then I started lookin' at mags and stuff and everyone was holding palms down... so I tried riding like that for a session and it was a lot better...

Ya, like Nathan said, which one are you?

As for the 180, feel the pop off the wake and then let go with your front hand. This will initiate your rotation.

If you don't feel comfortable that way, just do it by moving the handle from your front hip to your rear hip at the peak of your jump.

As you come down, look to the shore and ride away. Wink

we ride by spanish point (even thou it's a mantee zone), skiers island, and sometimes in venice. mostly skiier's island b/c my jb(unlawsessioner) lives right there and we usualy ride there. i'd stop askin about shelby thou b/c about ridin with her b/c jb will get pissed. but it's all good!!!!!
