bands that SUCK live

the avril liavigne thread inspired this topic. i think it's our duty to humanity to warn our friends before they drop 30 bucks on tickets to a concert where the band sounds great in the cd player, but live, it's more like finger nails on a chalkboard. so here's just a few off the top of my head.

-chili peppers
-blink 182
-jimmy eat world (love em, even went to high school with them but they sucked live then and they suck live now)
-no doubt
-our lady peace
-and of course avril (just because your hot doesn't mean you can sing. that goes for you too britney)

Sugar Ray really sucks live too...

A lot (most) stuff can be fixed by a good producer.... They even have boxes that will make you sing in key... these days you need less and less talent to be a pop musician.

Bands that do everything on stage the same way or many times better than the CD really impress me... some really good bands like that:

- Riddlin Kids (Especially these guys)
- The Offspring (gotta love the moshing)
- Barenaked Ladies (good for taking chicks to)

I though blink was good live. I have seen them at the Warp tour and tow other times and they put on a great show

im sorry, ive never seen them good live, it's like they cant keep up with themselves. also, i can never hear the vocals over everything else

I just got my tickets to the Disturbed show. The show is April 19th. I'll let you guys know how it is. I was trying to get tickets to Linkin Park but they were sold out. I guess they are coming back in August to play with Metallica and Disturbed. That would be a sick @$$ show.

I saw Milli Vanilli at a county fair. That sucked!

ive been to metallica 3 times. sooooo good. i've wondered if disturbed was any good, i'd def like to see them.

I'm gonna be going to the Metallica\Deftones\Mudvayne\Linkin Park and (gaygaygay) Limp Bizkit in Minneapolis. I'm gonna pound em down during you know who, they ruin a good line up. And as far as sucking live, Ozzy was sooooo off key during last years Ozzfest that it made me sad. I think it's about time to stop. If you can't hit keep up to a tour, don't dissapoint fans by singing crappy. He just seemed so tired and blah, body can't keep up no more.

amen wake, dmb is one of those that always sounds BETTER than their cd cuts, and incubus puts on a good show weather you like their music or not

Whenever I have seen Blink 182 live they have been pretty good.....Ive seen them 3 times and every time its been cool, they have sung pretty well, although Mark Hoppus definitely has a better voice than Tom DeLonge.

Faith No More was an UNBELIEVABLY good live band.

I have heard nothing but crappy reports about Offspring live, although Ive never been to one of their concerts myself.

Millencolin are also great live Smile

Well, looks like the Dave Matthews haters beat me here. I was kind of afraid people were gonna scream & shout about it but it looks like I'm not alone.

The thing I don't like about their live show is how every song is a 30 minute odyssey. If somebody would do a good solo or something it might be interesting, but you can only listen to Boyd or Leroi jam for so long before it becomes repetitive. Neither Dave nor Stefan know how to solo so scratch them. If the rest of the band would shut up, which they don't, Carter could throw some bones.

Why do I know so much about the band? I used to love 'em before I met fanatics who wouldn't shut up about him. Now I can't stand him, & a crappy live show didn't do anything to bring them into my good graces.

i actually agree with some of your points jester. the best shows dmb shows ive been to were the ones where carter had some time to cut loose (man that guy can go) and dave actually did some impressive solos himself. but you're right, it's rare.
if you ever get a chance, come to phoenix to see one of his shows. for some reason, it seems like he plays better. i guess different artists have favorite venues and i think he loves playing at desert sky pavillion and that makes a difference.
