I went to a gun range for the first time today. I had a ton of fun. You feel really powerful. How many of you have shot handguns? Do you have any recommendations on a fun gun to shoot? I plan on going again, the only problem is the cost of ammunition. It gets pretty pricey. Heres the guns I shot:

Sig 9mm
Kimber .45
Glock .45
HK .45
6 inch Smith and Wesson .357 magnum
4 inch Smith and Wesson .357 magnum
2 inch Ruger .357 magnum

My favorite gun out of all of those was the Kimber .45. The 2 inch Ruger was soooo powerful. It was crazy. The best part about the whole thing was that my target was a big poster of Saddam Hussein. Its hanging on the door of my dormroom.

I have a Ruger P89 that I've had for a few years that's a real fun gun to shoot...
not too heavy, decent but not extreme kick, very accurate sights.

Ammos not too bad either... it's been years since I've been to a range tho.

Josh,

I don't think shootin' is an adjective in this case...it's probably a verb.

Besides, you can do a lot more with guns than shoot them. You can:

- Look at them.
- Show them to your friends.
- Hammer something with them.
- Drop them.
- Put them on the ground nice and slow.
- Throw them off a bridge.
- Throw them in a storm drain.
- Bury them in the woods.
- Put them in your mouth.
- Put them in your ear.
- Put them in your pocket.
- Put them in your locker.
- Take them out of your backpack.
- Stick them up your ....

See, guns are fun for a lot of stuff besides shootin'.

Nick - I payed $33 for the whole night. Heres how it broke down

$16 lane fee (that was with two other people in the lane)
$10 for a gun rental (unlimited changes between guns)
$10 for a box of 9mm (50 shots)
$33 for 2 boxes of .45 (100 shots)
$18 for a box of .357 mag (50 shots)
$6 for 3 targets
+tax

Josh - Shootin' was meant to be a verb, not an adjective.

Aubs - When I was at the range, one of the workers there was a younger woman, probably in her mid 20's. She explained a couple things to me about women shooting guns. First of all, she said women are often better than men at shooting, especially the first couple of times. She said the main reason for this is because women listen to directions and men just wanna go. I didn't really listen to the rest of this because I was like "shut up and let me go shoot" Very Happy . Also, the best argument for convincing your parents to let you go is this: Gun safety is something very important to know. Even if you don't ever own your own gun, what if you ever come into a situation where a gun is involved. You don't want to be scared of it, and if you don't have any knowledge about gun safety or how to handle a gun, something bad could happen. She explained it very well and I totally agree with her. Tell your parents that and let them think about it.

Crissy - That's awesome your Dad took you when you were young. I grew up in the city with conservative parents, so guns weren't really an option. The .357 mag was a fun gun to shoot. Very powerful and tons of kickback. Lets see some pics of you with all your guns and knives Very Happy . Do boys ever break up with you? I'd be scared to break your heart. I'd have to wear a bullet proof vest.

A .44 is nothing...try the two most powerful handguns there are:

.454 Casull, a 5-shot revolver that has 75% more power than a .44 Magnum

.50 Magnum...The Desert Eagle is a fun one. Huge gun too.

Both of those guns have an incredible recoil, and they each cost over $1/bullet. I have shot both of them...if you're in Orlando, go to East Orange Shooting Sports. You can try them out, along with an AR-15 rifle chambered for .45 instead of .223. Lots of fun!

Dudes/Dudettes

In Vietnam, you can shoot pistols, machine guns & throw grenades.

The best deal is the rocket launcher - I'm not sure how much it is for the rocket itself, but I know that you can buy a cow at the range for $250.

So, the deal is - buy a rocket and blow up a cow.

Fun, fun, fun...

Pedro

PS - No, I have not tried it

yet.....

I used to have a Sig P227 - Sig .357 with interchangeable barrels with a SW .40. It was a mean gun, got nite sites, custom grip. The de-cocking system is the best and safest out there. the P229 is awesome two, is the 9mm parabellum. However, the SS 380, is among the meanest smallest guns out there.

As for Beretta, they diversified their factories from Italy to Asutria, so depends what you look for. 9mm Berettas are the best built.

I am not a fan of huge rounds, .4 is the largest I'll bust.

Cheers, (i carry a SS 380, havent had the need to use it so far, that is good)

I have what's listed below. Always liked shooting, never really got into hunting though. Skeet shooting is fun, if you've never done it you should try it.

Pistols:
.45 Kimber
.22 Ruger
.45 black powder 6 shot revolver

Rifles:
.22 Winchester Repeater
30-06 Remington
12 Gauge Winchester Pump
________
Tifosi

Mike I've got to agree with you the 454 Casull is just nuts to shoot. I've been debating about learning to deer hunt with a pistol and this is the round to shoot.

Otto: I think you and me have something in common.

Pistols:
Dan Wesson .357 Magnum
Walther .380 PPK (James Bond's gun)
Colt .45

Rifles:
Remington .30-06 pump
Remington .270 w/ Carl Zeiss scope

Shotguns:
12-gauge Benelli Pump
12-gauge Remington 1187 Auto
.410 double barrell

06 pump action?

dude if u go pistol hunting u need to get a contender or one of the guns u can switch out the barrells, u can get a 223 or even a 30-30 barrel for your pistol.

Ya the .30-06 pump was my great-grandfather's gun. It holds 5 shots and is pretty fun to shoot. That was my rifle of choice until I got the .270

Just my opinion.

i hunt and occasionally go to the shooting range. i have quite a few guns but i have only bought one.

rifles:
marlin model 60 .22
ruger 10 .22

shotguns:
browning S over/under 12 guage
mossberg 500A 12 guage
browning A5 12 guage
old bolt action .410 i think it's a new haven
old winchester model 12 12 guage

handguns:
ruger 22 revolver
colt python .357 6 in. revolver
colt .40
taurus .38 special revolver
some piece of crap .25
glock 9 mm

oh yeah a 2.5 in potato gun. if you have a potato gun try acetylene sometime. you may want to use schedule 80 pvc though ive never tried it on schedule 40. it's badass.

also does anyone here keep guns in their car? and what does your state law say about it? i carry a colt .40 and a .22 pistol most of the time. it's legal for me because i go to school 7 hours away and if you're traveling across county lines it is legal in TX.

well not all guns are bad, the exceptions being the potato and paint kind. If no one had guns the police wouldn't need them.

In Georgia I believe you can drive around with your gun loaded in the glovebox. Here in MI you have to register handguns, which I think is B.S. and should be unconstitutional, but whatever.

You can see the gun laws for the various states at:

From that webpage, stuff you can do:
