hahaha yea kyle, you sound just like my mom. but i don't see how could josh's slider could be THAT dangerous anyway, and i'd be ok,. wih breaking a bone on it if i could slide it all a few times before. (as being injured is getting common is my case, and will probably become common in the case of every rider that pushs himself). josh, is the slider biuld yet ?

Nope. The weather is being a real b*tch (which is good, it's filling up the lakes) plus everyone is off snowboarding right now. The slider is an hour away, so it's hard to get out there too often.

Hell, I drew up the plans for my slider in 2001, I didn't start building it until 2002, and it wasn't finished until late late 2002. It was 150k's away and I only had 1 day a week off at the time to work on it (Real Estate Agent - not worth it).

kyle: If you are "pretty darn good on sliders" then what are you worried about?

I would like to extend an invitation to you to attempt this slider and go down in the record books. This is your big chance to make YOUR mark and show how good you are on sliders.

Actually nah forget it, why would anyone want to push the boundries and end up hurting themselves just for the sake of wake boarding history.

I wonder if you can spin? or go upside down? have you tried touching the board WITH YOUR HAND?

If you can do any or all of the above then look out cause you are about to be in for a surprise.....In order to do all of those you needed to PROGRESS. You LEARNT these things. You were not born with the natural ability to throw down a toeside nuclear backroll to blind.

The twin tip board you ride, the boats we all want to ride behind, the fact we even have sliders are all from peoples minds who had the creativity and inititive to try.

I and others appreciate your concern and even may laugh at your perokial views but I suggest you think before you write.[/quote]

only prob you got josh is the speed, snowboarders can do the double humps becuase they can slowly roll up the first and down the dip for the next, with wakeboarding you hitting it at about 19-20 mph at the least, more than likely (unless the bumps are very gradual) you gonna air off the first the hit the second hump (nasty) or air over the whole dip?? just something to think about (I had a mate in Canada who had the same idea a while ago after seeing a dipper at whistler, he dumped the idea after thinking about the speed thing.

The humps would he to be very gradual, our slider is only small, and the angle of the entry and exit is only 15 degrees, yet it takes only the slightest push to jump from the begining, clear the 40ft flat, and land at the end again.

Just going to have to absorb that sucker I guess!

"polished 22's" says:

Aussie stu and criminally minded: You are both right in your thoughts. As the slider will be over 140ft. the actual gradient of the humps won't be as exagerated as the plans but the speed at which it will be hit is undetermind....how fast do you hit your's crim?? how long is the puppy?40ft? I was thinking faster would be better for stability but speed will also create air?!?! will be interesting.....I appreciate your input

Ours is 40ft yes, and we hit it at about 20mph. However the angle on ours is 15 degrees, not a continous curve. I imagine a curve would cause less pop and be easier to stay on than a single bend. Also, if the rise/fall between bumps is, say less than 2/3 ft, you should be able to absorb most of it by pumping your legs.

Can't wait to see the footage!

Oh and josh, can you PM me your addy again? I lost it Rolling Eyes

A few more pics from yesterday. It's starting to look like an actual slider now.

Excuse the wetsuits, the water is still freezing and everyone was sitting in there for hours.

We haven't cut the posts down to size yet.

We're working on getting all the angles and measurements correct so all the humps are pretty even.
