|
|
I have a '99 SAN with a single axle trailer but soon I will be making 7-9 hour trips and would like to purchase a double axle. Does anyone know where I could purchase one that is not $4k? Any help would be appreciated-

It would be way cheaper to convert your single axel to a tandem. All you need to do is find the axel # on the axel that you have and purchase a second axel, a set of springs, and the shackle mounts. I would recomend taking to an alignment shop that deals with trailers for the actual install though. I deal with trailers all of the time and I know this is a very simple operation. |

Well skobi1 has put you in the right direction, putting another axel on a trailer should be left up to people that know what's going on. You also can call a local trailer dealer and see if they do trade-ins. You might be able to get a good deal on an tandem one. If you do try to do it yourself just remember what is riding on it and going down the road you might want to keep it back there. |

Thanks Sean- It's amazing how Bubb Rubb is blowing up. Everybody I know is including Wooo Wooo in their conversations-
Also, I would like to say I've looked at converting the trailer to a double axle. Looks like a pain, but my father is an experienced welder...plus he offered to do it. I'm just a little uneasy about tearing apart a perfectly good trailer. $4k for a new one is just too much.

Visit a boat show and try talking to people.
If you sell/trade in your single, you'll save some as well. |

DHM Enterprises in Sacramento, CA is probably one of the best trailers i've ever towed... Their warranty is exceptional and the trailers put up with all the abuse we can dish out.... our trailer did 20,000 miles the first year, and 7-12,000 since then... with no problems. Tracks straight @ 85mph with no sway..darn good trailers. _________________ Couldn't think of a witty commment... so... um.... yea |

I agree with skobi
Make sure to have it profesionally done, your talking about a set of tires wheels and axle rotating at 70 MPH. Any vibration or misallignment(sp?) could lead to problems, especially on wet roads.
Like everything else involving wakeboarding, new trailers cost way to much.
