alright i wanna make a damn rail because they tore all the ones that were up down (great incentive to build a new one right?) but im moving to colorado in 2 months so i dont wanna spend tons of money on this thing, plus it may get torn down. i go down in glaveston texas, so its pretty much muk not mud. do you think if i got 2x6x12's and placed 1 length and 1 width, but keep alternating like that, that will be enough support? also how far apart should i place them. 4x4 and 6x6 are to expensive for me... _________________ sh1t happens when you party naked |

hey i actually just made a slider for the same situation. the srtucture is 8'6" tall and 14Ft long. baicly used a 2x10x14ft for the top wiht 1'' pvc for the slider i used 3 4x4 posts and made "T" stands its heavy but can be taken out if need be b/c it sits on the bottom of the river. i also ran two 2x4x12ft on both sides of the post about f.5ft form the bottom. only using tree posts makes it decently study the more posts you have the more stability. 4x4s are the way to go i bought about 40ft of 1" pvc, a 14ft 2x6, a 8ft 2x6, 2lbs of screws, 2 10ft 2x4, 2 12ft 2x4, for a little over $100 if you would like pictures let me know. |
