That is a tough slate, but good games to watch for the UW faithful. A bit inflated maybe due to Boise St's success last year, but they lose their QB, TE and WRs, plus about 1/2 their defense - and you get them at home. Syracuse blows. tOSU is always going to be damn good, but they did lose their 3 biggest playmakers and you get them at home as well.

Is Stanback going to be 100% Really like that kid. I'd like to see UW back in the mix at the top of the Pac10.

I'm exited about Texas football this year, but the older I get, the less worked up I get. I think I am finally starting to realize I have zero impact on the team and what happens, happens.

I am very excited to see the new defense. UT has been stockpiling stud LBs for a couple of years now, but getting zero productivity out of them. I'm hoping the new DC (Larry MacDuff, creator of the Desert Swarm D at Arizona) will utilize them much better.

jt09, Stanback was drafted in the 5th or 6th. We've got a young stud named Jake Locker. He's really going to be thrown into the fire with that schedule, I'm hoping this is the big turnaround season. Twelve starters returning (6/6) could hopefully be the foundation that we need.

Dpierce37, where do you see that SI preseason ranking? That usually doesn't come out for another month or so.

I'm looking forward to this season. I really hope we either tank it or kick some ass. After 4 years I'd really just like to get on one bandwagon or the other.

SI has a power ranking out right now, but it's just that...AND it's pre-season.

We better beat Tennessee...that's all I gotta say at the moment.

Same as always. Pulled in every stud in SoCal and half the ones from the rest of the country. You shouldn't worry about their D at all. Their D will be Pete's best since 04. LB is especially stacked.

It will be interesting to see who steps up in crunch time for SC when they have to make a 4th quarter comeback.

Because Tennessee beat the piss out of Cal last season to open the season and Scott wants revenge.

02lightning, good luck in Cal's house. I think you may have that statement backwards.

As goofy a place as Bezerkely is, they play damn tough football in their house.

Tell you friends to hit up Fat Slice or Blondies on Telegraph.

Scott a - I'm just ribbing you a little. Tennessee is always underestimated and hated on by the rankings committees. Cal was way overranked last year and came down to K-town cocky. I hope it's a good game. I'm sure it will be fun to watch.

As for worrying about playing in Bezerkly, I'm not too worried. Until you've played in the swamp against the gators (every year) you don't have any idea what playing in adverse conditions at an away school really means. FYI, we traditionally play much better on the road. Fulmer will have the boys ready for this one.

What's this? An SEC fan exaggerating how tough their schedule really is? You play at UF every other year...

SEC fan does overestimate their SOS, especially their OOC SOS, but the PAC 10 doesn't exactly have any intimidating stadiums w/ the exception of Autzen.

Husky Stadium, November, raining 55 degrees with wind off the lake. Speaking from experience (from the field) it is fricken miserable, a kick/punt returners worst nightmare nevermind attempting a passing game.

But I agree from a general stadium aspect, we don't have much.

All I can say is come down to k-town and play in Big Orange country. 108k screaming fans in a damn near verticle stadium. Its one of the loudest venues you will ever experience. As for strength of schedule, I'd trade for Cal's any day. You come play Georgia, Flordia, LSU, South Carolina, Alabama and/or Auburn and see how you do.

jryoung, tons of places have crap weather. I'm talking about fans and the environment they create. The SEC wins that arguement hands down.

I know, that's what I was getting at in the end. We do have crappy weather more consistently that others though, and with the open horseshoe to the lake it just get's nasty.

One of the biggest things UW has going against them is school starts the 3rd or 4th week in September, so the first 3 games are always vacant.

I don't know where the whole stadium argument came from, but I definitely wont argue that the SEC atmospheres are among the toughest to play in. That said, I think Chavez' earlier statement that Cal's tough at home is still accurate, but in a different way. We've dropped two games at home over the past three years.
