HS Backroll, was the first invert i learnt, its not like going backwards on a tramp, find some info on it all over the web, wakeboarder did have a preety good trick section, but since the crash its no longer there.
The feeling is more like being spun round than going over yourself, the tantrum is the going backwards over yourself flip _________________ A bad day at the lake is better than a good day at work. |

Do what ever you feel the most comfortable with. I have friend who doesn't like doing back flips so he wanted to start out trying front rolls. If you feel comfortable with both then try 5 backrolls and then move on to 5 frontrolls or something else. Dont get frusterated when you are trying them. Try a couple and then move on to something else and come back to it later. Your mind will start messing with you after about 5 crashes in a row unless you can tell you are getting closer. I'd say backroll or tantrum. Don't try the TS Front first...
I could never do backflips on a tramp, but I just went for a tantrum and started getting really close to landing it not that long after. It's totally different than doing a backflip on a tramp 'cause you're not really doing that much. Just cut really hard at the wake, stop and make yourself parallel to the wake, then throw your head and arm back. The wake will flip you no problem. Look at my profile pic. That is not a correct tantrum, but I still landed it. Once you get comfortable flipping you can really lay it out and work on the form and technique. But there really is no correlation between being able to do a backflip on a tramp and a tantrum. |

Well I first tried a backroll but had know idea how it was supposed to be done so the tantrum seemed like the easier one since its almost a straight backflip. _________________ ------ BOOO -------- |

| Like Adam said. Try them both and whatever one you feel that you are closer to landing, concentrate on that. That's what I did and it worked out. FYI, for 99% of riders, a backroll is easier than a frontroll. Later... |

Tantrums are the exact same on the tramp, it can't be any differnt- straight up back flip. I learned a back roll first, cause I always thought back flips were weird, so after learning 9 inverts I tried a tantrum and go it on my 3 try, but that was after I had been doing them on the tramp.
later,

| Do what ever is most comfortable and least painful. I freak out doing backflips, and still haven't learned the backroll. My first (and so far only) invert was a scarecrow. |

| I learned a tantrum and backroll first, but if a front roll is more naturual for you try it. Under rotaing a front roll hurts less than under rotating a back roll. |

Ive had one bad experience under-rotating a tantrum....I bagged myself on the water.... ....laid there for about 15 mins and collected myself so I wouldn't puke when I got into the boat..lol...but I would go with whatever feels more natural, I did the tantrum first, working on a front roll and back roll right now. Download some vids of the tricks and try to visualize yourself doing them, thats what I did. |

Of the two you mentioned the hS backroll will be easier to land and get consistent. The front is harder to land and has to be overrotated to land it consistently but a backroll you can leave early or be skectchy and still recover..Hell dont limit your self go try them both and see whats easier for you.You wont know how it feels to you go for it and see how that first one feels..go for it _________________ "Thanks for Play'n"

Underrotating a backroll doesn't hurt at all. All you do i slip out of your bindings. THe only time it kinda hurts is if you get really close and then catch the nose because then you have a lot longer to fall. If you only get like 3/4's you can't even feel it. Frontrolls hurt though I pretty much get bagged every try. |
