i just want to know what people think of boat prices these days, i mean fair enough a CC SAN or MC x-star might be let off because thay are exeptional boats but seriously there are no decent boats at an affordable price, well at least not where i live (country victoria, australia). The cheapest, most decent boat we can get is called a sleekline, which are nice they have alot of room, nice velour trim, twin ob seat, ect, but are still around $22000, and thats with no extras, is that to much or what. (we can still get centurians, natiques ect but im talking cheap and good) _________________ {R.I.P Mark Kenney}

Prices are rediculos, but i went to look at bayliners today and it kinda put stuff in perspective, not to offend anybayliner owners but you realy get what you pay for in a boat more mony=more features, less mony=bayliner, their great boats i almost bought one but theres so much stuff i wish they had but also their trying to offer a good price so i guess you have to kinda balance out featres and affordability |

All boat prices are ridiculous, especially ski/board boats. The r & d, engineering and technology involved in todays cars is way, way more then any boat ever, and boats are way more expensive. All a boat is is a fiberglas hull, an engine which is built somewhere else and a one speed tranny. big deal. compare this to a 50K car with antilock, airbags, auto overdrive tranny, a/c, crazy efficient engine, leather seats, suspension system, etc. there is just no way to justify the boats cost. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

Wakeboard boats are the thing now and as long as the demand is there the prices will stay high. |

Boat prices are high, especially when compared to cars.
However, auto manufacturers can spread overhead costs and operating expenses over hundreds of thousands of cars that they sell.
Boat manufacturers can't do that. |

the building process of a boat takes alot more handcrafting rather than automation like cars but the technology in boats hasnt increased enough the last five years to justify the price increases. |

Boat prices may be high, but we can see a positive out of it.
If boat prices went down to say... half of what they are... a lot more people would be out at the lake. As it is now, only rich people and those of us who value the pleasure of the lake whatever the cost.
Lower boat prices=less butter. |

Boat prices are high partly because they are luxury goods. Well at least the ones we are talking about. They are an extra thing that people with extra money can buy. Money spends a lot easier after the bills are paid. So people will pay more for a boat. Luxury goods don't fall into the supply/demand formulas like other things do. |

I heard that since boarding boats just started production (1st v-drive in what 1999) excluding the Nauti Excel. That there are not enough in the market to keep the price low. That whole supply & demand thing. But once the market starts to fill up (hopefully in the next 3 yrs or so) that wake boats will get cheaper. Hopefully that will be something you can look forward to if you are riding behind an I/O or old inboard (myself included.) _________________ I have gone to great lengths to expand my threshold for pain. |

Boat's are also considered a luxury item so just for that you need to pay more for it. But mostly it's a supply and demand thing, I'm sure of it.
I agree you get what you pay for.... but get what you can afford also... I heard about a guy that bought a new boat only to have it taken back 2 months down the road. What does that prove, besides the fact that he's a chump....

jaysuu, don't believe everything you hear, boat prices will continue to climb and will not go down. the companies will just make less boats and lay off the workers. no breaks, no bargains. the best we can hope for is the prices don't climb to quickly and that the interest rates stay down. the only prices that drop are on the used boats and i bet there are some great deals by some banks that have boats to unload. _________________ Live to Ride, ride to live |
