I mean... it's kind of like jumping off of a 60 foot cliff into the water for the first time. I'm pretty much not scared of anything, but when I got to the top of that 60 foot cliff at our lake, I was just like: "Wow, I found something I'm scared of!!" But just so I wouldn't look like a dork or wimp or whatever, I just did it. I have no clue why. My mind didn't want to, my body just did it. I absolutely loved it too!! I did it a few more times until my butt got sore and I realized that you just have to do it. _________________ If my above post offends you in any way, simply ignore it. Here's the trick, get a real hot girl in the boat that you wanna hook up with. Your fear of looking like a wuss should overcome whatever stupid fear you have of spinning off the double up. |

LOL - toothpick...excactly what I was going to say before I scrolled the page down. It would also help to have some friends on the boat who are quick to make it completely obvious that you are being a wuss.
I haven't even got to the double-up yet - I'll probably be shitting in my pants. I hope that when I do I have some good friends there to call me a big wuss. |

Just keep the handle in close as you leave the wake and start spinning at the peak of the jump(even go for a grab first, that will help bring the handle closer). You'll have plenty of time to spin. _________________ Raley cut everything! |

Have you ever tried giving your fear to a higher power? A higher power can be God, Jesus, Buddha, Mother Nature ... anything you want.
To me, wakeboarding is a spiritual experience. Everything about it is totally awesome - friends, calm water, breeze, scenery.. you know the list can go on and on.. When I'm riding, I think about how cool it is that the God (of my understanding) invented Wakeboarding. God also thinks it is cool that we are riding and enjoying ourselves.. It's kind of like a dad watching his kids play baseball or something to that effect.
Every day I make a decision to turn my will and my life over to God and Christ. That means I give up my fear as well. And God likes it when I give my fear to him. Matter of fact, the more fears and worries I give to God, the happier he gets.
Yep, every time I go to try a new trick I turn my fears over to God. He will be there if I get hurt. Or he is with me when I dial in a new trick.
I didn't intend this to be preachy so I won't preach. These are just my beliefs and they work for me. The minute you mention God or Jesus, some people get either offensive or defensive. That's ok, I understand.
Peace,
Proud Christian Rider

So, once again I say "God bless you with butter water"

Hey, y'all leave Rob alone. He's just telling you what works for him. And Rob, I do think God likes it when we wakeboard, because we're happy, and every father likes it when his children are happy.

I think some people may watch too many post-game interviews where all the atheletes thank god for their achievments. incredibly cliche.
You forgot Satan. Calling upon some higher power in order to help you make earthly gains (i.e., better wakeboarding, new job, scoring touchdowns, ~ all egocentric goals) is what that is all about. Are you sure you're calling on the right deity?
Not that I'm really into any theologic debate, but just wanted to point out some of the irony there. |

"I turn my fear over to God"
is what I said
not
"I ask God to help me land this Wrapped KGB"
The whole point is this.. I call on a higher power to take away my fears. It works for me.
Peace and good riding to you _________________ "Our common welfare as wakeboarders shall come first, placing principles ahead of personalities......" |

i'm not going to mince words with you. i felt the overall tone suggested something to that effect (him being with you when you dial in a new trick and 'inventing' wakeboarding). We are actually on the same page, I do something similar but 'God' (insofar as this entity looking over me like a father) has nothing to do with it.
No sense in arguing though, I really hope this doesn't sound like an affront to your spirituality. We are all on the same ride. Peace, love, and buttery water to you too. |

Right on Tdes!
No affront taken.
My point is to give "fear" away to a higher power (something other than us). Whether it is God, Satan, Jesus, Buddha, or a Kosher Dill Pickle... give your fear away..
No fear = bigger balls = better riding
And better riding is better living
