Just curious, do you think sometime in the future any Pro wakeboard tours will limit the size of the wake being thrown? I was looking at some of the new boats, specifically new Malibus, and they literally look like tanks on water. If boats keep increasing size and more ballast is added will the wake ever be too big?

I think there's a reasonable limit. I mean some people sre pushing that limit, like gerry nunn, who has like 5000 lbs of lead in his wakesetter. Every one has the ability to dump alot of weight in their boat and make mountainous wakes, but not everone is doing it to that extent because it's just not necessary past an extra thousand pounds or so.

The X-80 is a godd@mn tank on water, twin salt water V-8's, Jesus they'd need a crane to get it out of the water.

I'm pretty sure there is a limit on wake size. I was reading how Supra was pulling one of the events this year (I think it was world wakeboarding championships) and how the 24SSV will undoubtedly be pushing the limits of wake size.

i've never heard of a limit on wake size as of yet... but i'm sure in the future if there is already not one which we haven't heard of that a limit will be put in place.

X80 has a pretty sub par wake. You get a much bigger well defined wake out of a smaller boat. That is a lot of surface area to weigh down...

Wakeboard Magazine May 2007: Regarding the 24SSV which will be pulling the WWA Wakeboard World Championships: "Supra has attempted to make wakes as big as possible. Without a crystal ball, we're not sure what the CEILING ON WAKE SIZE WILL BE, but after riding the 24SSV we're certain Supra is trying to push the limits."

ya-- ask anyone at the AWA wake contest last weekend.....they used the epic with factory weight...and like 12 ppl in the boat....we had to have ppl taken out because the wake was too big...when combined with the rough conditions it was not a practical wake for the contest...but everyone there will tell you that it was one of the most fun wakes to ride!
