Okay,

I'll try to make this as informative as possible, I can't give all the answers because I am not skilled enough to use the full potential of this board, but I will try my best.

To preface, I rode a HL 04 temet last season (my first season) and I was in need of a new board. The biggest reason being I needed a longer board.

So I started out the season with 2 boards, a demo 07 143 Covin, and a 04 138 temet. For testing purposes i used my old bindings on both boards. I started off with my old board and warmed up and did pretty much everything that i could last year. Note that I am a newb and my tricks consist of w2w HS and TS, butterslides, ollies, and surface 360s.

Okay, all the rust is off and I am back to where I left off; time to use the covin.

First 30 second impression was everything seemed easier, probably because the board was longer, so I wasn't too impressed. I was just going slowly back and forth getting a feel for the board. Then I decided to cut.....hard. Here is where the board stood out. The board had such a powerful and solid edge it surprised me. But it had one terrible side effect: confidence. With an edge like that I could tell hitting the wake would be fun. So next up.......progressive edge toward the wake.

Now would be a good time to say, I had never been "into the flats". Most of my jumps were always just enough, or just short of a w2w. Most of the time last season, I really had to drive at the wake to make a good jump. But when i hit that wake with the covin, I learned that I didnt need a wind-up like before. I cleared the wake with a LOT more air than I had ever experienced and landed in the flats with a spectacular crash. Fortunately I was able to break the fall with my face. After a good laugh with my driver, I kept going, realizing I had found a great board to start season #2 with.

So from my experiences on 2 other boards (the temet and a hydroslide that i rode about 2 hours), the covin is a definite improvement. In the hands of someone more experienced, I bet they would be able to get a lot more out of it that I can atm. It feels lighter and lands pretty much about the same as my temet did (landings for me have never really been "hard"). It has the edge, speed, and pop that a guy like me needs (6'3 185 lbs), and will be a SOLID platform for me to learn all the spins and inverts I hope to land this year. Most of the pop seems to come from this boards ability to generate a lot of enegry very quickly, ie - very hard and strong edges.

I'll post pics of the setup soon, my internet doesnt work so well up here where I am. Took me 4 tries to get this posted. Tomorrow will be a fun day of wakeboarding Cool
