You just rise from the legs, exactly like it sounds. Not quite Like an ollie, because the technique for ollieing (ollying, olliing olleying? How the f*ck do you spell that?) is different, but you have to jump off the wake, the wake won't do all the work for you.

Edwards, to put the motion into words I would describe it as extending your knees to allow your upper body to move up, not pushing down with your legs to extend them. Let the wake pop you, don't necessarily ollie off of it, if that makes any sense.

Standing tall is a simple term for pop! skateboards need to be poped, wakeboards if you want to get the max air are the same way. you extend your knees as your coming up the wake so that your board pushes off the wake and throws you way higher.

Jumping at the wake will make your jumps sketchy, as you are relying on timing.

In general, standing tall just refers to having your body in line and your legs in a strong enough position to not absorb the wake.

There is no need to "jump" at the wake.

Two things to remember.

1) if you lock your legs straight, you can easily go W2W if you use a good progressive edge.

2) Look at the exact opposite, a person skiing mogals. The knees piston in and out absorbing the hills (wake) and the body does not jump.

With all that said... if you body is in a strong position (not bent at the waist) and your legs are extending vs just being firm, you will jump higher.

If you are on a very strong progressive edge, the weight of the force pushing you into the water is crushing on your legs. If you do it right, jumping is not an option and just not collapsing is the goal.
