Things I would always like as gifts:

Rope
Handle
Board shorts
Hoodies
Videos

Does he have a boat? Does he need anything for the boat?

When in doubt, a gift certificate is always a good choice. My g/f got me a gift cert. from www.buywake.com and I loved it. (She gave it to me early because they were having a 36 hour after Thanksgiving sale. Mr. Green )

thanks.. yeh he has a boat and for his birthday he mentioned a rope and handle but complains it always gets ruined or taken from his friends... but that might be a good idea to go along with the shoes any way... I'll just have to supervise the items Exclamation

I guess because carbon fiber is incredibly strong as well as lightweight. Its not cheap because its more costly to manufacture. While I'm sure the pros benefit from carbon, I suspect most regular folks wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I bought my spectra rope and handle on Ebay for less than $100 total. Crazy Eyes

One year I got him a rope and handle combo from ebay. nothing fancy but it was a zero stretch line and he didnt have one of those yet. Last year I gave him one of those stocking stuffers from wakeside which included wbm subscription, calendar and video along with some cool stickers. this year I havent bought him anything directly wakeboard related but I am making him his own wakeboard calendar. I love taking pics of him riding and since I study graphic design, I love doing things like this. I made the whole 12 month calendar with the best pics I have of him and marked special dates on the calendar (like bdays and anniversaries) Oh and I also got him a really cool water proof watch because he likes seeing how much he rides for since we dont have a boat and we dont like to abuse of other people's boats.

Boardshorts are always a nice gift, its something he will be using a lot. get him one that matches his gear Mr. Green

I once did him for his bday a mock wakeboarding magazine, with ads and articles where he was in the articles and I was in one of the ads Very Happy it was funny.

cadence, will the truth be out in time for christmas?, cause if so you could get that.
For wakeskate dvds I know of Fill in the Blanks and Asterisk*. I don't know how good these are though. Then there is Snap which is an instructional one. I saw them on boardersparadise.
