Ok, I got an email from a guy, and im trying to figure out where it came from, I already emailed hotmial (his account was from there) and they have yet to respond. This a-hole sent me a virus, luckily it was detected. I dont think it's spam either. I think I was specifically targeted. What do I need to do, or what can I do to him????
Thanks,
Ryan Boatright |

This stuff happens a lot. I could have just been that you put that address to sign up for something and companies sell the e-mail addresses. I wouldn't worry about being specifically targeted. I get those kinds of e-mails all the time I just dont open up e-mails in my hotmail account with attached files unless i know who the person is. |

yeah, chukee is right...dont open up the email if u dont know who it is. i know there used to be these annonymous email accounts that u could send an email to the guy and itd nuke his comp. but i havent seen those forever. otherwise, just let it go and move on. _________________ sing goddess, of the anger of achilles, son of peleus |

you won't be able to track a hotmail address from the header. If you are having problems with a certain person you can report them. _________________ The answer is D - All of the above. |

If it's the same e-mail address over and over i believe hotmail has an option in the privacy where you can block e-mails from certain addresses. |

atxwake... it may have been that he got the virus to, and you were in his adress list, and the virus sent it self out to every one on his list. |

It does sound accidental to me! If he was making specific remarks or attacks to you in the email or before the email-it may have been deliberate! If the later is the case, contact Pat(:He has top-level capabilities in forum administration.pat@wakeboarder.com _________________ My opinion is my opinion!

It could not be from him, some viruses can e-mail from one person to another if both addresses are found on an infected computer, or it could be him being pissed with something you said in the last forum ? _________________ Jess

I dont know either, I mean if he got infected, and it automatically sent one to me, so be it. I apoligize if thats the case. I just thought it was really wierd to get a virus, this is the first one I have ever recieved. And then to find out it was somebody from wakeboarder.com, I was outraged. Either way, it's all good, i've lost my morning frusteration!!! |

I support a 200 + network and on the average we see about 1 virus a day try to get to our servers.
My suggestion to make sure you update your virus definitions once a week. |
