I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "getting tripped going up it and popping off of it," but I know a common problem when jumping toeside can be getting "unwrapped" in the air. You might be coming off edge right before the wake, or opening up toward the boat too much once you're in the air. Focus on staying on edge all the way through the wake, and then once you're in the air, focus on staying twisted away from the boat and landing on edge. If that's not it, i dunno. _________________ Whoever coined the term "Near Beer" was a very poor judge of distance... |

I think i just need more practice edging on my toes switch. what i mean by getting "tripped" is when i charge the wake i seem to be doing a topside 180 on the wake itself as i go up it and im loosing my edge.
I had the same problem at first when i was charging the wake switch heelside. i would cut in so hard that my right foot would start to "over rotate" instead of being on edge and hitting the wake at a 90 degree angle i would pass the 90 degree mark and start to perform a topside 180 while cutting. I had to find a balance of weighting my front and back foot. im just having a hard time finding that balance switch toeside. It has to be the most uncomfortable stance ive taken on yet. |

| if by "over rotating" you mean sliding out, then it sounds like you aren't putting enough weight on ur back foot through your cut into and at the wake to get the necessary bite to plant the tail of your board where you want it, try pushing your cut more with your back foot to keep the tail planted |

devon, There are 4 ways to cross the wake. Regular HS, regular TS, switch HS and switch TS. Switch TS is by far the hardest way to jump the wake, rarely do I see many riders (non-pro) do it. _________________

I do the exact same thing switch ts- it feels like I am trying to open up a 180 to land regular hs.. but the problem is I start to open up at the trough of the wake., which makes for some interesting chest plants.
The best learning tool I have found is doing inside/out switch ts jumps and LANDING SWITCH TS instead of turning that 180 to land regular. That way you can practice the release and the landing without the boot of the wake, and you won't develop the bad habits that Ive already developed from trying to force the fakie rotation too early. |

Hey timmyDecker,
This is exactly what is happening to me:
"it feels like I am trying to open up a 180 to land regular hs.. but the problem is I start to open up at the trough of the wake., which makes for some interesting chest plants. "
I guess i have to try to stay on the edge like you told me. I will try it and let you know.
Thanx again |

| Jim our problems are the same. Ive been fixing mine tho by just starting small and working my way up i can get about half way across the wake. I think in a few sessions ill have enough confidence to clear the wake switch ts. |
