Just came across a recent Randy Harris video clip on the alliance site. Definitely nice to see the Vandall going huge again - I forgot how impressive it is to watch him throw down. For your viewing pleasure:

Vandall was, and still is, GNARLY. I love watching him ride. Plus, what's he going? 28.5 or something around there? Sick none-the-less.

Isn't that the opposite of what nautique wakes do? Up, not out...so basically what you're getting at is that Vandall is a freak of nature defying all physics Very Happy

That right there is some wakeboarding. I gotta say, I'm getting a little bored watching the pros throw everything w2w. w2w 7s are pretty standard now. They're impressive, but not overly exciting to watch. I know landing in the flats is harsh - blah blah blah. But I'd much rather see a really stylie 180, 360 or 540 taken huge like Randall than a w2w 7 or 9. Thanks for finding that clip!

Everytime I watch him ride I am amazed. This guy has the sickest style and goes too huge! And his board hasn't changed in what, like 7 years? That shape goes all the way back to Thruster I think

He still has the biggest, cleanest slob front to fakie I have ever seen.

For you youngster who have not seen Mayday or his section in natural born thrillaz, check it out. He is bad ass no doubt

Totally agreed. Granted there's no way anybody could go wake to wake behind a nautique at that speed but that was awesome.

I posted this on the other site in response to some questions:

-----------------

I was lucky enough to be out on the boat that day to watch Randy and shoot some photos. You can read about it in a little article on the Alliance website: http://www.alliancewake.com/default2.aspx?pg=article&id=346

It was seriously some of the best (if not the best) wake riding I have ever seen. Watching Randy ride totally changes the way you think about the sport (and that is definitely a good thing). It's not all about how big he goes, though. Just look at the tricks he does and how he grabs them. Mute BS 180 to switch mute BS 180? Plus to take them both 15' into the flast like that? It's ridiculous. Download the video to your iPods so you can watch it wherever and whenever.

That was out on Jeff McKee's SAN 210 with the weight set up for how Jeff normally rides, which I think is about 24 MPH at 85-87'. Randy was riding about 27-28 MPH at 87' I think. The wake was actually shrinking a little with the increased speed. Goes to show you that if you know how to edge and pop off the wake right you don't need it to be the biggest.

It's pretty cool being out there and realizing you're watching somebody ride who nobody else in the world rides like.
