My son is getting better and better at boarding... He is very competitive by nature, and would maybe like to try an INT event at TSR or another local event. I am not keen on the competition, but would like to have him spend some time with older, stronger riders.

He is 5, so he would be in the mini outlaw (under 8) category. Anyone know what a INT score would be for

a) to be allowed to attend
b) the be middle of the pack
c) to win an event

What would a typical 5 trick list be for these kids?

This really doesnt have much to do with the INT but if he wants to be around some older, stonger riders take him over to the cable at TSR.

I know that at OWC the teens really enjoy helping the younger kids that are really interested learn new stuff and im sure it would be the same at TSR. Its great to spread the sport and help other people learn new tricks and such!

Not sure about the actual score needed, but the INT group for the kids here in Texas is a great group. I work with them in the Houston area. If you would like a more laid back atmosphere for competing, we run two tournaments in Houston. Next year, we are going to try to have an under 10 beginner division. PM me with any questions you might have about INT in Texas. The guys that run it work with us quite a bit during the year.

I've seen ONE mini outlaw at my competitions do a 2 wake jump (HS)... This was at ONE event, ONE trick. That was the biggest I've seen in mini-outlaw.

All the looking that I have done found 1 video and 1 set of actual scores. The INT webpage does not list (for the average skilled web surfer) the scores of all riders in all events)

Anyone know where I can find a full results list?

In the one I found...
1st place at about 810 pts.
2nd place at about 625 pts.

(I am sure this is better or worse by area, as places with parks would tend to get better scores)

He can do wake crossing, surface 180s, HS jumps (1 wake), consistantly.
He has done switch riding, lipslides, etc.

I think he could put a 6 trick score of 450-550 together. (i am unsure if they get "Style" points at that age, so those are raw scores) If he did the lipslide, he could get into the 600s.

I just don't want to have him show up and be asked to leave. :)

the second link you gave.
you get 1025 for first place
925 for second
835 for third
754 for fourth
681 for fifth
and I forgot the rest...

stop points (the points you make in your trick runs) help you win tour points, tour points help you go to nationals.

Agreed...
These appear to be the points collected for placing in certain positions.

1 = 1025
2 = 925

They are the same for all divisions.

Does Jr Novice = Mini Outlaw?

Thanks for all your input so far... It has been very helpful.

my apologies. they changed it on me.

Jr Novice is different from Mini Outlaw

If he wants to compete, the INT league can be really really fun. You will run across the Soccer Mom and Dad, but you will encounter that anywhere. The cool part is that all of the young-uns are really encouraged by the older riders around here.

Mini Outlaw = 8 & under
Jr. Novice = under 13

A mini-outlaw rider CAN be bumped to Junior Intermediate (or Junior Novice) if he is too good.

It is funny you mention soccer mom/dads...

This year in his indoor soccer game, one kid kicked another kid right after the end of the game.

One of the parent separated them... but did so by moving the kid on the opposite team.

Brawl errupted.... It was in a YMCA league. AArrrggghhh....
