Here's a little math lesson for you man. A 5.7 litre engine is a 350. 350 divided by 5.7 = 61.40 . You have 6.2 litre engines. 6.2 times 61.40 = 380.68 . You don't have 350's man. You have stroked 350's (380's). WAY cooler. I'm just assuming that your engines say 6.2 all over them for some sort of size identification.

Oh...I almost forgot...Mercruiser normally uses Ford engines. Ford doesn't make a 350, they make a 351. They call it a 5.8. _________________ http://kmags.mybrute.com/

Not true bro. Mercruiser uses plenty of GM blocks.
http://brycemarine.com/Brochure_Print.asp?modelid=68292
Looks like the 6.2 "MX" is a stroked out 350 (5.7) 320 hp. I'm sure that pig squeals. =). _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

Okay...it's a 377. So is that a Ford or Chevy? Big block or small? I have no clue here. _________________ http://kmags.mybrute.com/

Its a stroked out 350, GM block. Meaning they take the 350 block and stuff its guts with that of a larger engine. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

Rhawn, I know what a stroker is. But a stroked 350 is NOT a 350! Normally if someone strokes a 350 it becomes a 383. It's not just stuffing guts either. Stroking is normally done by replacing the crankshaft with one that has a longer stroke...then you normally need to change the pistons so that they aren't quite as long so they don't hit the head/valves or increase you compression too much for pump fuel...but they also normally bore out the cylinders to accept a.030 overbore or .060 overbore piston to further increase the displacement. So yeah...a stroked 350 is not a 350. _________________ http://kmags.mybrute.com/

kmagnuss, I am just regurgitating what I read on it. Specs say its a GM 350 block stroked to 377. And stuffing larger guts is the simple, enough to be dangerous, explanation.
Mercruiser is all crazy, who knows what they are putting together these days. I wish I didn't know, I wish I spent my time working on a Inboard. But an I/O is what I chose out of ignorance. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

whoever keeps posting that merc uses ford blocks is completely worng. Almost every block they use is GM (few exceptions) Thats why Mercury and Volvo are the two biggest i/o companies. Merc uses GM, volvo (owned by Fo.Mo.Co.) uses ford blocks. And mercury makes an 8.1 bbl 425 hp engine. Two of those monsters wont fit in a 29 ft engine compartment. Hell you can only fit a single bbl engine in a 32ft performance boat (this is excluding cabing cruisers) One more thing whoever put they have a sportfish. a baja sportfish is a center console. |

I don't know for sure about this enigne, but typically a 377 results from destroking. More specifically, a 400 cid small block chevy with the crankshaft from a 350 chevy. The result is a smaller displacement (than the 400) but quicker reving (due to the reduced stroke) engine. |

90% of the mercruiser engines ive worked on over the past 10 years where chevrolet. PCM however uses fords on most of their small block powered marine conversions. _________________ sport nautique |

They used fords, not anymore though. They have been GM for a while now since Ford stopped making that engine. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |
