Hey everyone.
I started wakeboarding like 1 month ago and i have ollies, surface 180's, and riding both ways covered. I just have a little problem.........
The boat i ride behind is a 26 FOOT CABIN CRUISER. The wake is at least 3-4 feet when im riding and its hard to learn how to do w2w or even just hopping a wake. I have a hard enough time just getting outside the wake. Is there anything I can with the baot to make the wake smaller for learning????? Like slow it down or speed it up. I ride around 20-22 mph.

Thanks guys
Almost forgot that i use a 65 foot rope. I just prefer a long rope because its easier to get up for me.

Dang i bet that is a huge wake. I would speed the boat up and shortening your rope would keep you in a smaller thiner wake.

MinnesotaBoarder,
Depending on the wake, it would probably be better to lengthen it.

I would speed up and lengthen it.

Very Happy MONSTER TRIPLE UPS!

I'm pretty sure cruisers put out really wide wakes so I'd bring in the rope a little bit and speed to maybe 25 although it may hurt a little more to fall... So don't!

You really kinda need to experiment with what works well for your boat and your wake.

Shocked this is the 1st one I hear complaining about a to big wake Wink

I think it's not that easy to reduce this wake...
Idea I should say: control that wake, if you ride it a lot, youi'll get used to it

Exclamation faceplanting at 25mph is painfull Exclamation so I think that's not a good idea

Do you have any pics of that wake?

If the wake is really wide shorten the rope.
Speed up just a tad, this will give you a more mellow wake. Keep in mind though, it will be harder.
It the wake isn't wide lengthen the rope and you will probably hit a mellower wake further back.
Perhaps you should slow the boat down to like 18 mph and try learning to just jump that wake. This will make the wake a little steeper and therefore it will be a little harder for you to master it. But at 18 mph you won't hurt yourself as much as you would at 23 mph.

I would be Bubb Rubbing excited if I was to go wakeboarding behind a boat like that... Right now I'm behind a 17 feet bass boat... Sad

Good luck with that wake!

Mike

26 Ft. is nothing, and I bet your '3-4 ft.' wake is definitely washed out, making it less than that actually. Craig and I ride behind his 26 ft. Scarab, and our other friend's 26 ft. Sea Ray cruiser. The wake is fine.
