The other day we were out and I was riding at 75' going 24-26. I was able clear the wake just fine and it feels better the faster the pull. The wake wasn't too big since we didn't have the sacs full but I am just curious if I am cheating by being pulled so fast and not learning proper eadging.

I am 135 and that speed and line tension feels great, with a larger wake I suspect I will get more air? Since it didn't feel I was getting too much, just launching further and faster.

I like to think it's my weight and that I don't have the momentum (sp) but I've seen video of younger riders and they seem to not go as fast. Also, when I attempt my 3's at 22mph I feel that I launch but is it because I'm harder on my heelside because I want to throw the rotation faster?

do you have (air) time to pull some grabs at his speed?

I wouldn't say it's cheating at all. I ride 80' at 24, and i find everything easier at that speed w/ a longer line. I can't stand the soft feel of the wake going slow, and short lines pull me over to the side, I can't even stick a backroll at 70'

CHEATER CHEATER CHEATER!!!!! LOL

Assuming you are not riding behind some wide barge of a boat - If that is the only way you can clear the wake, then yes you may be limiting your ability to develop a good ege to the wake. Now if you can clear the wake at slower speeds TS and HS but just prefer that speed, then ride at whetever feels the best.

You may get a higher wake and more potential pop at slower speeds (everything else being equal), but like others have said it depends on how soft / hard the wake is at various speeds.

It's all relative to the boat and the size of the wake...

I run my Team Edition at 22 mph at 75 feet, with weight...
From 19 mph on up to 24mph the wake is never soft. it's a nautique!

... And if the speedo is actually correct.

Nautiques hold it down. Cool

28mph???? That's what some people ski at. You must have at least 4000lbs of ballast to produce any sort of wake at that speed.

Rope length is measured from the tow point, and all boats are different. So 80ft on my Avalanche isn't 80ft on a Malibu with an Illusion X tower. All Illusion X owners are riding shorter unless they compensate. All speedometers weren't created equal either, so unless you've GPS'ed your speedo, it may be off too. Either way, who cares how fast you ride or at what length, as long as it works for you.

Epic, actually, that's what most people ski at. A lot of slalom skiiers go 30-35, maybe 40...i forget....

if you are riding that fast and not getting huge air you are not standing tall enough at the wake. a lot of riders squat down on thier inbound edge and never stand tall enough to clear the wake. set your body position tall outside of the wake and do not change it as you edge back in. it takes some balls but once you really get it you will realize how easy it is. you must harness the energy of the wake.

No deff not cheating however you will feel the pain! I rode at like 23mph for a while and the wake feels harder at that speed and you can run a longer rope to get more inrun. Downside is that when you mess up the water hurts more! Your body feels it after a while. So I slowed down to 19.5 and now I can screw up an invert and the pain is berable. The wake is bigger too but less air because you can fly into it as fast and hard. But I can get enough air for basic inverts and that is all I can do anyway. When I try an s-bend I guess I'll have to speed up some haha.
