For the time we've had our boat, my dad has never really looked at other rides, but recently he's been asking questions about V-Drives and D-Drives and checking one out if it's nearby. We saw one parked on the dock where we keep the boat and he asked about the wedge and said he really liked the layout.
The old guy normally doesn't care about this kind of stuff but it seemed lately he's kind of into it so I wonder if it's a sign The problem is our boat is still financed for 10 years so nothing would happen anytime soon I would really kill for one of these boats... Really.
Allright, yeah this was kind of just a pointless rant i needed to get out.

55K used or NEW is a lot of money for most people.....
The reason I mention this is....
The only people that know what it really costs to run a boat are the ones running the boat.
If we ask for gas money your only response should be how much would you like....
my 2 second rant.....
With that said you need to sell your dad on one fact, "Life is Short, live it"!..
Before you know it you will be 35 and happy to just get a weekday ride in with the boys.
When you are 40 and can afford a boat like this you will not be able to ride it like a 20 year old..
I can't tell you how many times older people 40+ and close to 50 years old ask me about getting a wakeboard boat..
What brand, what to look for and it all comes down to one thing.... how much are you going to use it jumping wake to wake?
People come back to reality real quick when you tell them just to get into a Nautique starter boat it will cost you close to 60K they all but die right there on the dock.. Some have even asked me straight out how I can afford the boat I have, I go for the shock factor and tell them I produce PORN movies.. I then let them seriously that I have mad sacrifices so I can have MY boat, not many but I have made some....I then point to my small house on the lake that is sitting next to one of the biggest houses on the lake...see me small house.... _________________ PEACE

J_DOGG, Well put.
Another rant:
One of the things that made me mad was that we could have had a 1995 ski nautique (bowrider) for 3 grand less than we paid for our boat. A week after we bought ours, I noticed a Moomba Outback for a grand more than ours WITH a tower, speakers, fat sacs included!
The reason for not buying the Nautique: Dad did not like the seating layout although it could seat more than ours! It had a 275 HP engine and the enterior was really clean and mint. We had ours for a while and he decided to go for a ride behind it and hated the fact it slowed down 4 MpH every time he would carve (he's a big guy) and it won't even drive straight. He's also completely against making ours better although we have added tower speakers which is probably the extent of it. No cruise control or ballast projects.

He just bought a brand new bike (Kawasaki Vulcan 1500) and a 52" TV in the past year so I think he's living up the midlife crisis thing
Maybe one day I'll be able to buy a boat with my job made for a 10 year old _________________

Haha! Good news, good news, good news!
We lost our gas cap filling up at the docks and had to go into a boat store to pick one up (where we bought our boat) and the old man wanted to go look around at bigger boats 20-23 ft. He said he was considering buying a bigger (not necessarily newer) boat in the next two years. He was talking about seating plans and how he loved the seating of a V-Drive so it will obviously be either a stern drive or a v-drive-- he wanted the engine at the back. I suggested a used V-Drive boat that would be a couple years old and he put it to thought.
His ideas now are so far a Rinker (older R1 or R2), older Tigé, or for the "cheapness factor" a fairly new Moomba.
I'm pretty excited but it's still a longshot for a new boat. _________________

Justin 25, AKA Direct drive or I-Drive.
The engine is in the middle of the boat. _________________
