I'm finally getting around to putting together my (personal) financial summary for last year. As reference information, I'd like to include the performance numbers for the typical indices (NASDAQ, S&P 500, DOW, etc...) for 2005. I've looked all over and can't seem to find this information anywhere. I can look at the return numbers for an index fund but they only list a rolling average up to present (not for a calendar year).

I have found a few charts but prefer some solid numbers.

Chavez - That particular page doesn't show returns for a calendar year (only YTD, past 12 months, ...). I do subscribe to Morningstar but have never found this elusive information on their site. I'd think there would be a number of people who'd want to compare their portfolio performance to one of these indices for the calendar year.

Any other ideas on where to look?

fish6942, well, if you go to S&P's website, you can get the S&P return information for a particular date. So, if you plugged in 31-DEC-2005, you will get the S&P # for that date, as well as YTD returns broken down about two dozen ways.

www.standardandpoors.com

More info for the other indicies:

http://www.nasdaq.com/aspx/TotalReturn.aspx

Best of luck to you.
