take them off the double up, as the extra air time will help you. I can't do one. hell, I can barely do a regular 360.

Robert Harp, if you can't get around on the spin, wouldn't that just make the chance of injury worse? I've had some pretty nasty spills off double ups which I can barely do to start with Razz

you dont need extra air time to do the same rotation? edge in with a little more line tension at the wake and make sure to keep the handle low. if you push down on the handle its going to set you off axis.

dude, i didn't say more rotation. but to get off axis it seems like you would need more concentration on going off axis, so you lose the whole "spin" idea. The Double up would hurt alot more on the falls, as said by Qnev, and he's right. but you get extra air time.

If you can do a scarecrow, you can do a TS OA 5. All you have to do is cut in exactly like a scarecrow, and suck up your front knee into your front shoulder when you leave the wake. But unlike a scarecrow, STARE AT THE BOAT! The board will drift behind you and eventually pull your front hand off the handle, and then just reach for a handle pass, and it's just like a scarecrow from there. A TS OA 5 is basically a scarecrow with a handle pass.

well i have scarecrows dialed.........however i take a very aggressive edge like a raley into them and dont think that edge would work well when doing a handel pass.......so should i take a more subtle edge? ive always done my crows way past the 2nd wake......what would you reccomend?>

Maybe try to soften your edge. I usually land like 2 feet pass the second wake on scarecrows and off 5's.

If I come in heelside, and do the exact same rotation and handle pass as an OA 540, is that a slim chance 540? I was doing that on a tramp and felt really comfortable and found it to be fun and easy. If it is the same and since I have my scarecrow down, I think it would be an easier transition to learn a slim chance 5 by learning an OA 5 first

a pet peeve of mine is kids who try to give advice on tricks they can't do...if you cant do it then what to you know about giving advice about it? Rolling Eyes

claymra, for hs oa 3's and 5's you want to just ride up the wake and drift your legs out behind you and also push down on the handle a little like alafiaboarder was saying

tristanmx7, an OA 540 is nothing like a slim chance 540...a slim chance 540 is a frontflip with a 540 so taking them off axis wouldn't help you at all. it may help if you were going to try learning a mobius 540 but seeing as only andrew adkison can do them...i'd say you have a few years to go

Craig-R, I attempted an off axis 540 tonight and it's the exact same rotation as what i was doing on the tramp and from everything i have been told, i was doing a slim chance 540 on the tramp. If I come in toeside and do a scarecrow (front flip rotation) and pass the handle (540 rotation) to do an off axis 540, isn't that like doing a slim chance only toeside because like you said, a slim chance is a front flip and a 540. They just seem like the exact same rotation.

Also, how do I insert a person's name in bold?

tristanmx7, a toeside frontroll, which as you're referring to it as a frontflip, is not the same as a heelside "frontflip." a heelside frontflip is when you dip your front shoulder down and flip over the nose of your board and is almost like a cartwheel on land, which is nothing like a frontflip on a trampoline or a toeside frontroll. and im not sure what you're doing is a slim chance on the trampoline unless i see like a video of it so its hard to say

you can put someone's name in bold by either clicking their name, or typing "[ b ]" without spaces before their name then "[ / b ]" after their name only without spaces so mine would look like "[ b ] Craig-R [ / b ]"

tristanmx7, I would reccomend doing them heelside before toeside. Learn the Heelside off-axis 180. That way, you'll get used to going off-axis, and you can take it to 3 from there. Doing a TS Off-axis 180 is almost impossible, so thats why I say try on the Heelside first.

I don't reccomend the scarecrow approach to the TS off axis spin. That IS a way to land the trick, but it looks ugly, in my opinion.

Craig-R, Not sure if you know that several people do Mobius 540's. I filmed one last week.

Craig-R, I never once mentioned a toeside frontroll or called it a front flip. I'm just talking about the type of rotation. I was talking about a scarecrow rotation, only with a handle pass. If you do that toeside, it's a off axis 540 and I was wondering if heelside is a slim chance 540.

I'm pretty sure I don't even know what a mobius 540 looks like. I may have done one unintentionally at some point. Who knows. Question

tristanmx7, no, you definitely haven't. but i think i got what you're trying to say now. a ts OA 540 is like a scarecrow with a handlepass and you were wondering what an OA hs 540 would be equivalent to. you can sort of compare it to a hs backroll to revert. a mobius 540 is a backroll2revert with an added handlepass 360 before you land

this is my first post, I was looking at the forums and all the hatin is really sad. It's so bad in here you cant even tell if people are serious. So what if people dont know the difference between some tricks, maybe tell them in a nice way, at some point you didnt know the stuff either. btw props to your friend , thats good riding.

oh yeah the point of the post, taking your spins of axis. I would suggest just gradually take your spins off axis have more edge going into the wake each time you try them and let them drift farther back each time. And if I have described something wrong someone please make me look like an idiot if it makes you feel better.

wtbamoomba, The reason why is because he can't do Switch BS 180's. If he could, then he would be able to do his 5, and then pull the rope into the 7. He does the 540, and then just kinda slowly goes into the 7 from there. If he understood that pull (the same pull you do on a late Sw. HS BS 180, then he would be able to land it. Just my 2 cents. Of course, the 180 isn't necessary to learning this trick... I am just trying to telll you the easiest route for your friend to get there.

exofusion, this thread has been relatively tame as to the amount of fighting etc. but you gotta have thick skin on forums it's just how it is...once you're here for a while you will probably get used to it and realize that most of these people dont have cruel intentions but are just joking around. welcome to wakeboarder.com though! Very Happy
