So many events so little time. I'd love to attend but I'll be at Snowshoe throwing myself down the mountain.
HIll,
I got your message and I will be going out tonight and tomorrow night.

| Sounds good to me. Time to load up some camping gear. I'll try and make it. But considering I can't go 24 hours without my plans changing, I won't know till later.

i'm going to be a mean person about this since i saw who is putting it on.
i wasn't too impressed with the fact that the guys who run Mission can only jump the wake and do a scarecrow, between the two i talked to. i figured the guys would be really good riders that could give good instruction to me on a whirlybird, since i was trying them, or a slim chance, which i want to try sometime next week when i ride. i asked them what they could do and was very shocked. the guys at G*Rides at springs dock are the ones i trust with instruction for when i get down to Norris.
when i left the shop and knew the door was closed, i just walked down the stairs busting up laughing after i talked to them
sorry, but it's true.

ohio_wake_2008, Bro seriously.. it isn't about tricks you can land or s*** you can do. It is about hanging out with your friends and doing something you love.. I mean it isn't a contest to go be on the lake, it doesn't count on your record or anything like that it is where you want to be and what you want to do!

| Knoxville1212, yeah, i understand that it is about the fun and all, but what fun is it when you go out trying to learn something like a tantrum 2 blind and they have no clue how to do it and don't know how to explain it well? thats no fun at all and that is a waste of time and money.

i don't know who you talked to bro but it wasn't me and i'm the one that does the wake lesssons. there has been a couple times when i haven't been here and somebody else from the shop has taken a lesson out and if one of those was you, i'm sorry that it wasn't what you expected (with good reason though). to be honest, there's not anyone in here (and there's 5 or 6 of us) that can just jump the wake and do a scarecrow.
if you still want some help on the whirly, what helped me when i was learning them was to be sure you have you tantrum down with your elbow in. take a little wider cut then think about hitting the wake like you're going to do a surf carve and cut back out (which will really just make you square up hard and help to start the backside spin). both arms should be out to your side as you leave the wake then bring your front one across your face and your back one into your chest while looking over your back shoulder. try to keep the handle ahead of the spin. the whirly is a fun trick so have a good time. keep in mind that there is a fine line between trying a whirly and just doing a weird looking tantrum and actually spinning the whirlybird. chances are you'll do one or the other so hold you arm across your face a little longer than you think and lead with your head. you can also try it someone driving the dumper so your line tension will be lessened and it may be easier. hopefully you've already landed it and you don't need this but if not, i hope it helps.
i looked at your myspace page to see if i recognized you but i didn't so i don't guess we've met yet. and i love the parks bonifay board with the gloves!

jhill, sorry...i thought it was just the two guys that i met that ran it because they were the 2 that were in there a few weeks ago also. and i didn't land the whirly...i came up a 180 short and didn't get the full rotation. thanks for the tips though, i'll work on it soon.
oh, and about the gloves thing...those were from riding at norris last year when i had my rubber-grip handle. i got for an hour at a time and my hands got ripped up from it, so thats where the gloves came in. with the board...i read everything that i could about it and it is the perfect board for my riding style. i didn't necessarily get it because it's parks bonifay's board. i'm not one of those kids that is like, "OMG1!11!!!!!1 i have to have that uber kewl board. PB is the SIKKEST rider out thurr and i have 2 get dat!"
i just get the best out there.

ohio wake 2008, you totally made yourself look like an idiot. i suppose you are loyal to your boys a g*rides because they're from ohio also. i've taken lessons from them & they are good people. i would assume that they have some hard feelings toward mission for showing up with LF & cutting into their customer base.
ps. nice gloves, you look like a stud rockin' that parks!

wake eater, i'm not loyal to the guys at g*rides, i just talk to them all the time when i am at springs. the only thing i've ever gotten from them is a handle...it's not like i buy all of my stuff from them. i don't know what their feelings are toward the guys at mission though.
p.s. with or without the gloves, i'll be a better rider than you anyday

ohio_wake_2008, I did not completely read your post, but I can say that Justin at Overboard Watersports is an excellent rider and has top notch training skills and will give you his undivided attention.-I lay my reputation on it, whatever that's worth
Keep an open mind. Have fun every chance you can and every now and then you will probably learn something too!

00ls1, yo. Its on Norris Lake TN. Its about a 45mins-1hour drive from Knoxville, so about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from chatty I suppose. Just type in Sequoyah marina on mapquest.com and you should get directions. Its a bit tricky trying to find the place but just give the guys a call (the number is on the flyer) and they'll point you in the right direction...
