my parents finally bit the bullet and upgraded our boat to an 05 malibu vride. we can't be happier with the boat, it preforms perfectly. got in july, just haven't gotten around to posting some pics. the wake is huge (no pics) and helped me step my boarding up a notch. |

Wrong, the illusion has been avalible since '03 and the illusion X since '04 (CFT is new for '06 however.)
The yellow/white combo looks great, the V-ride has one of the best hulls in the industry still IMO... _________________ wakeboards

Nice boat.
Is the speaker system custom? That looks like an odd place for speakers |

at first i was so sure of the color combo, but it grew on me, matches the truck too.
Wakeboarddrumma, malibu's factory installs them in that spot, as well as most other boat brands out there. |

Along with most cars from the past. Keyword there being past. Dash speakers are a waste.
Nice looking Malibu. _________________

Wakeboarddrumma, i think thats an REALLY good idea, the sound hits the glass and redirects through the whole boat, i could be wrong, but i think thats why they do it, or maybe thats just my theory. |

thats a suupa nice boat. ive never been a huge fan of their new towers, i liked em better with the Titan II towers, but thats just personal preference. Malibu's wakes are sick though, have fun! |

some more pictures of the wake and boat
the wake is washed out on opposite side because of wierd weight distribution of driver and other things.

Looks nice. I just saw a yellow one similar for '06 at our local boat show. We've got an '05 vride with the titan III on it and absolutely love it. Good luck with the ride. _________________ You stand on the shore and look out over the horizon.

thanks for the compliments, anybody else in here with a vride with a really good ballast setup for wakesurfing? we can only get the right side good, probably since the driver is not the lightest person on the boat. |

Ah, I've heard it's definitely not the most solid tower in 'bu's lineup. _________________ wakeboards

K-dub, so why did they discontinue it? just not stable enough. i did notice that it has a little bit of slop in it, but not enough to bother me. Other than that it seems like a solid tower.
it is super hard finding reasonably priced accessories for it though, thats the only drawback |

from what I understand, they were discontinued because the company that makes them couldn't keep up with demand. |

My 04 VLX set up works good.
325# of lead ballast in the bow with front MLS full. Rear factory ballast and a 250# fat sack in the trunk ,only on the side you ride. As many people on that side also.Sometimes I drive from the observers seat.
Sometimes we use the Wedge somtimes not depending on the # of people in the boat and the anlge of plane. _________________ let's ride! |

My 03 VLX (same as a V-ride.) I put 400 up front, wedge, ballest filled on surf side and front. Plus I have a 750 x bag in the locker and if I only have three people total, I'll slap a 600lb on the surf side seat. Makes for a sweet large wake about waist + high. _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy stuff, what a ride!" |

Congrats on your parents boat. Will they let you take it out alone? I like the color set up! _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy stuff, what a ride!" |

we've been only using right side ballast, wedge, sometimes the midship, and 4 people on the side of the boat. i don't have much to compare it to though. i think i'll try adding some weight in the middle and in the bow.
D-GOOSE, they said that as soon as i turn 17, april, that i'd probably be able to take it out. but im not sure if i want to cuz i'd screw myself over if something happened. plus i'd have to pay for gas. so why not have my dad come with me to be a driver, and pay for gas unless i take it out with a bunch of girls then i wouldn't want him to come, and i'd just be extremely careful. |

Well I'll see you out there this summer. Just look for the white and red VLX with a huge USA flag on top. _________________ "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy stuff, what a ride!" |

Nice Boat!
We have a spray date on our new V-Ride of 5-19-06.
Ours will be yellow and black.
Our interior will be very similar to yours.
I'll post some pics in about 7 weeks. |

the blade or CFT tower has stopped because they have lot of prob,s with the towers cracking.
As for surfing your always going to get better
wake on the right cos of the way the prop turns,
same as M.C. the nautiques are the other way.
Best thing to do is way the s**t out the side u want
to surf without the wedge that will try pull the back,
down evenly and turn the boat a little towards the
side your on. |

oh man i can't wait i'm getting the '06 vride this summer in France where we're gonna ride every morning and the lake is GLASS . i learned like half my inverts behind the vride at the wakeboard camp but i've really forgotten what the wake is like except that its really round and a reasonable size. wakeboardertj, when you fill all the ballast up and put the wedge down where does the wake come up to on you? it looks around your knees from one of the pics.
p.s. ours is gonna be green where yours is yellow, and black where yours is white (except the hull and top area, they're white too)
edit: sorry to dig up a relatively old thread but i am soooo amped for my summer to start and to get behind our new boat! |
