I can't seem to get any pop on my backroll attempts. I can go w2w fine but everytime I try a backroll I lose all my pop. I think I might be trying to throw it too hard and too early. How hard do you have to throw a backroll?

I used to do backrolls with barely enough air. What you have to do is be sure to WAIT all the way to the top of the wake, probably longer than you think. If you wait, and load the line by edging SUPER hard at the last second, you should be able to get enough pop to float it around.

i was trying to do a backroll for a few months last year (before i broke my leg this past winter) and now have yet to try one this year, but last year i remember that I would try flip to early. I finally realized it and cut all the way up the wake and got HUGE pop (like more than a normal w2w!). I was so surprised i forgot what to do but managed to pull off my first backroll Very Happy

bladerunner, you dont have to throw them hard at all. I learned them like you described...no height. I would throw it early and throw it low and fast. The speed I was throwing them I coulda probably done a double backroll if I got good pop on a double up. It worked but they looked like crap. Just try to wait longer and concentrate on exploding off the wake. What I mean is concentrate on popping and initiating the rotation at the top of the wake simultaneously. When you wait longer, your backrolls will be higher and less hucked looking.
