What are some pointers on doing this trick? Are they fairly easy?

I have issues with it too. I'm self conscious after breaking my leg trying them Shocked . But the key is to come in hard and compact and extend off the top over your lead shoulder.

Two things that help me with it:

Make sure you have a very progressive edge.

Really pop off of your back leg, bringing your lead knee up high.

When I first learned them, I remember watching Jeremy Kovak's slowball and thinking that if he can wait that long to throw it and still go around, I can wait longer than I think I need to and still make it around, and it worked Razz

Yea, I had an absolutely perfect tip to tip h/s front last summer, and when I started doing them this year, they were absolutely terrible looking frantrums...I noticed I'm not getting the super hard buck off the wake as I did last year. Hey toothpick I remember you from TWC March 2002.

Brad

Oh yeah Brad, I remember you there. That was so much fun, I'm going back in two weeks!

One more tip on those fronts is to keep the handle down by your stomach throughout the flip. Naturally most people want to put their arms up above their head, which just lays you out and will hurt your rotation.

the way i do em is fairly easy, cut in hard ~ progressive with 70% of your weight on your back foot, pop up then put your cheek to your lead shoulder, keep the handle in the same place the whole time. the same place it is on the edge in is where it should be when you are inverted and land. easy trick.

Thomas Horrel blew out his knee trying these, as have a lot of other pros. Why is this such a dangerous trick?

Yea, my problem is that I'm raising my hands above my head so it's going into frantrum...I also need to get the buck back. They really are super easy, I just have to get the style back hahaha. I don't know why I have been throwing my hands up. Billy, I went to WWC in March...I really wish I would have gone to TWC instead.

I think I am going to press the handle down more too so it has no chance of raising up.

Hey Bizzuck,
Front flips can really wreck boards hahha, I snapped my Premier DNA last year, I guess I came down too hard on the tail.

I just learned these, i think i like that trick. i snapped my board on a roll to revert landing tail heavy. This trick takes more timing than most inverts, i'll say that.

Dang Bizzuck, did that hurt your foot or ankle at all? I hurt my back foot on a front flip that I was all tweaked out on. Just curious on that one, did you pop high or was it one of those high speed low type flips?

Brad, good to hear that TWC is still the best, I can't wait to go Razz

Don't fear it, just make sure you take it big. the injuries come if you puss it, mine sure did. Big wake and big cut and you're money.

weird. I never had any problems with fronts, if you are afraid you are going to break your board haha there is also a Techinique I learned to take your fronts wake to wake, and just straight up. its kind of hard to explain, you keep a progressive edge, but you wait longer and ride up more of the wake than you normally would and you just go straight up and land on the downside of the wake. thats the technique i used to do front to fakie becuase i couldnt land it out in the flats. but i dont know if that makes sense, if you can already do a front it will.

Wakeboardumb, Wakeboardumb, so do you cut in like a normal w2w on this "straight up" front flip?
