Well after the best day of my wakeboarding life (landed a HS backroll...first invert), I woke up this morning with swimmer's ear. Bleck. It hurts but I can deal with the pain. Im taking Amoxicillin 3 times a day, and Im just wondering how long before I can wakeboard and if I should wear an ear plug for a few days when I start riding? Im proud of myself for taking a day off today, especially when its butter outside right now with no boats in sight, but Im not sure how long I can hold out.

give it a couple days and make sure you put alcohol (rubbing) in you ear after it gets wet so it will dry out.

Man, I feel ya. I get swimmer's ear everytime I'm in the water if I don't put alcohol in my ear afterwards. It's horribly painful, and mine lasts for atleast 3 or 4 days, but I've swam on it before while having swimmers ear. I'd be more cautious wakeboarding on it though, cause of the speed and possibility of poppin your ear on the water. I don't think that it'd seriously stunt the healing process....it'd just be really painful.

Congrats on the Backroll.

Last summer I got swimmers ear then immediately went to camp (camps on a lake so not gettin it wet wasnt an option) and forgot to go to the nurse all week to get my drops, came home and I had it in both ears and it had swollen up so bad in one they had to put a tube into it so the medicine could get to where it needed to. them putting it in was seriously the worst pain Ive ever felt in my life, but I absolutely couldnt get it wet for a week and that ment missing my clinic with andrew adkison Crying or Very sad

one thing ive discovered for me at least, is that not doing flips or going upside down underwater keeps me from getting swimmers ear. when i got it a couple years ago, it was because i'd do flips underwater and thats how the water got into my ear but now if i dive into the water or anything i make sure i come up the same way i went in...like when you flip over a waverunner you have to flip it over the same way it went down otherwise it'll get waterlogged... if that makes any sense

water gets in my ears every time no matter what I do. Just get an eye dropper and squirt alcohol in your ears.

I had swimmers ear last year and i went on a fishing tourny, and when we got back to the dock, i jumped in the pool and busted my ear drum. Worst pain ever felt. A night in the ER and a bottle of vicadin were the end results. The pain pills made it slightly better.
