holy crap! that suck major balls. You would think something that cost that much would be durable. I'm starting to doubt LF. I applaund you on the zeus choice. I just order a pair of torq's. I belive CWB is the way to go.

I don't think that is all uncommon to rip in that spot, but that is pretty excessive. My buddy ripped 2 sets of 04' Transits, before they got him into an 05' last year. He started to rip the 05' within a few days of riding.

Welcome to the liquid force club. This has happened to my Shane's twice, except the base of my binding broke in half too.

I knew I couldn't be the only one! Looking at the bindings, they are held together by string and cheap looking glue! I will never buy another pair of LF bindings, even thought they are comfy its no longer worth the headache to me.
BTW: when i landed I heard a ripping noise and I thought I might have tore something in my knee, so i was actually releived to see it was the binding.

savage3221, i think the problems have been with this year's LF bindings. a lot of them seem to be breaking. if you're on a 3 year old pair, then you haven't had the chance to experience these problems.

nickdakoolkat, gotta break em in, just like anything else. Expect the ankle overlay to be tight for a few sessions, although with the 100+ heat expected they may be more pliable from the get go.

been there... done that... 3 times, 2 pairs of watsons and my shanes.... i got a pair of transits because its not one of the "pro models" and no problems, and they feel amazing... i think the problem is mainly with this new base plate and lightweight thing they are goin for on watsons and shanes... Just my guess... if the transits rip then... im going to hyperheavy or riggin snowboard boots on these things...
just kidding...

every company has flaw boots.
I think people will start to think that liquidforce bindings will not be any good because of the few people who have had faulty ones where there is probably hundreds of thousands of perfectly fine lf bindings out there
Same goes for all the other companys

pilot_ryder, ok.
LF has flawed boots because of flawed design for 06. They even boasted about "saving weight" by not having hardware and using a glued & stitched design.
OOPS

well we all learn from experience... for 07, the pro model boots will probably be completely different because of this stuff. Its to bad they didn't catch this kind of problem with them in the testing processes. o well... tiral and error right?

pilot_ryder, exactly. Problems like this get blown way out of proportion on these message boards. I've been doing warranty for a good size shop for nearly a decade and the amount of stuff I have to send back goes down every year. Yes, there are problems from time to time, but generally speaking things get better every year.
The glued and stitched method is pretty strong. I'm not saying they don't need some tweaking, but that doesn't mean gluing and stitching is a bad way to construct bindings. Think about it...that's the same way shoes and snowboard boots are made. How often do you see those blow out?

Fair enough, but do most shoes blow out? Have you seen enough of them blow out to question the entire method? That's what I was getting at. Yeah, LF has had some problems with Shanes and Watsons this year. That doesn't mean stitching and gluing is a bad way to construct bindings, as some people have implied. It just means they need to tweak the way they are gluing and/or stitching their bindings.
FWIW, I ride Watsons and haven't had any problems.

Shoes and snowboard boots are not a fair comparison. They are not attached to something by virtue of the stitch & glue.
Snowboard boots typically rely on straps, save for some Drake and other step-ins - which have a heavily reinforced sole to prevent this type of problem. Problem is, the Drake and Vans models tend to be heavy due to the added reinforcement.
Shoes are not attached to anything below.
I have blown out shoes just from wear and tear, but in all fairness it took a whole lot of abuse to do so.
Those baseplate snaps are a whole different beast. This has always been my concern about the FAST system. It was only a matter of time before someone documented this type of failure. It seems though, the baseplate failures to be very rare and very hard to do.
By contrast (IMO), the current stitch & glue problem could be replicated in the right circumstances. Enough heat (read: sitting in boardracks in 100+ heat) and pressure and POP goes the weasel. I am sure LF will address this by 08. I think it is going to result in the very thing they were trying to avoid - extra weight.
