WHATSUP ALL!!

I HAVE NEVER POSTED ON THESE FORUMS BEFORE BUT HAVE BEEN READING THEM FOR A YEAR OR SO.

I HAVE BEEN BOARDING FOR 2 1/2 YEARS NOW. (AND I SUCK)
I CAN HS AND TS W2W. I CAN OLIE 180, HS W2W 180 AND 360.

THE DAMN BACKROLL GETS ME EVERYTIME THOUGH!

I HAVE BEEN IMAGINING AND TRYING IT FOR A YEAR NOW AND STILL CANT STICK THE DAMN THING.

MY QUESTION IS WHEN YOU HIT THE WAKE DO YOU HIT IT AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE (HEAD ON) OR SHOULD YOU BE POINTING THE NOSE OF THE BOARD AWAY FROM THE BOAT? MY NEXT QUESTION IS I UNDERSTAND TO STAND TALL AND LOOK OVER YOUR LEAD SHOULDER AND IT WILL INITIATE THE ROLL. ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO THROW YOUR BODY LIKE YOU ARE DOING A FLIP ON LAND? I THINK THAT I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT TOO LONG AND IT IS GIVING ME A MENTAL BLOCK OR I AM MAKING IT MORE DIFFUCLT THAN IT REALLY IS! PLEASE GIVE ME MORE POINTERS.....

use a progressive edge for your approach. most people also throw before the wake when learning. go UP THE WAKE BEFORE THROWING. at the top of the wake, pull your elbows in and next to your hips and look over your lead shoulder TO THE SKY. this will help you spot your landing early. keep both hands on the handle or you might do a roll to revert. pull in the handle in the air to rotate faster, let it out a tad to slow the rotation. and Dont let go. I did my first couple of times. Just dont let go. I hope this helped.

When i do them i through my hips up and kind of away from the boat. That should help you get rotating.

I have a question. Some times when I land I seem to to far back on my hs. How do I prevent that?

okieboarder, you might start rotation by throwing your hips, but I dont and I get enough rotation to land.. the pulling in of the handle and looking up initiates the rotation. Just Lax'n I have no idea. sorry Sad

You say pulling in the handle? I have never heard that before maybe thats my problem! I understand to keep the handle in thight for a faster rotation is this what your saying?

Yes that is what he is saying. Right at the top of the wake edge at 90 deg or more, doing this will throw your board up and back. The most important part is getting your pop. If you get a good pop, edge correctly(90+ deg) and keep the handle in close you are going to land it. The wake will be a natural ramp for this trick, don't throw anything.

You will typically land in the same position you hit the wake. So, if you are sitting way back on your edge when you hit the wake, you might be too far heelside on your landing.

Hope this helps.

Just Lax'n - like you always read, get the pop before "throwing" the trick. If you concentrate on getting the pop by standing tall with a good edge, you'll be close to the correct landing position.

If you "throw" the board away from the boat, you land the same way...almost going revert.

Approach the wake in the direction you want to land...progressive edge, stand tall...get the pop first...then, look over your lead shoulder to initiate the rotation....handle in tight.......spot the landing.....ride away stoked! Good luck!
