Or is the guy at the boat shop really trying to sell me a CWB board.. He said the other day that Hyperlite is going broke... That CWB makes the best boards. Is this true ? Are CWB boards pretty good ? Even though they sell them at Sports Authority!

mauilisa, Connelly is one of the most respected names in the waterski industry.

They sell HL at Sports Authority as well.

As for the HL going broke argument, no, they are not going out of business. They are in the midst of major changes, but they are not going out of business.

CWB makes top notch equipment. That said, none of the top 3 make any higher quality boards than another. They are all built well.

You should buy only what fits you best. If CWB does, then you should go with it.

How does Hyperlite or CWB being broke in the future affect the performance of the boards already in the store? Or for that matter, do all the good Hyperlite boards that folks bought last year suddenly suck? Rolling Eyes

I think the sales guy was just trying to push a certain product.

freerider4, what warrenties, I have never got a wakeboard that came with a warranty.

mauilisa, if its a true wakeboard store they will let you ride your board before you buy it, siince you dont want to drop some serious cash and then find out you hate your board.

Not so much are they going down the tube, but all of the other board manufacturers are catching up and passing.

O'Brien and CWB especially.

Liquid Force, CWB, Hyperlite, HO, O'Brien, and Connelly are all owned by the same person. They are run as seperate companies and "compete" against each other. Hyperlite will continue to be a well-run company with good products. You will see some market repositioning of the companies over the next few years. All make good gear and have good warranty support. As a JStar dealer, I would like you to buy gear from me, but I cannot say anything bad about my competition. Buy what works for you and support your local board shop.

CWB/Connelly is not majority owned by uncle Bob, although he does have a significant stake.

The rest I whole-heartedly agree with.

elmerfudd, Hyperlite/HO is no longer owned by O'Brien, they are owned by Motion Water Sports which is controlled by Robert "Bob" Archer.
