i go off the diving board. doesnt really help out with anything, but its a good way to learn backflips and other inverts, without worrying about snapping your neck on the tramp.

Yeah, that's about the only thing. Off the diving board for learning invert awareness.

It's difficult looking at a big pool of glassy water and not being able to board on it but I haven't thought of a practical way to do that..

i actually had an idea a while ago.

you know the little "lap" pools that are real small and have those jets for resistance, so you swim in place? i wonder if (it would be spendy) you could make something like that a bit bigger, and attach the rope to a wall, and use it to A. teach beginners to get up without wasting boat time for others, B. work on endurance, length of riding time, riding fundamentals, riding switch, C. just being able to carve some when you cant get on the boat, D. work on surface tricks.

it may be impractical, and spendy, but it was just an idea that popped into my head. i dont see why it wouldnt work. kindof like one of those surfing/bodyboarding things they have at a lot of waterparks. it could be marketed to cable parks, or even boardshops so people could test ride products at the store/shop instead of having the product leave the property of the store.

please dont steal my idea, ill gladly accept a business partner however, lol.

in on of those machines for swimming, the water moves (just guessing) like 3-4 miles per hour or something. if one were made for wakeboarding it would have to move like 20mph. that's a lot of water being displaced and what happens when you fall? you'd get pinned to the back of the enclosure.

while that would be awsome, if you fell and got pinned against the wall behind you it wouldnt then. Cool idea though.

QNev, lol, nice pic. I usually don't check out the forums too much until I start riding for the year. It gets me too bummed about not being able to ride.

QNev, that is one sweet pic in there. haha. great for surface tricks not for wake tricks. may be good for a camp or something but you would lose your in water training. it's like training to drive using a driving simulator.

Well if you could have a cut off/ drain switch. When you fall its like a cord on a treadmill. Cuts the power/ water and then it could purge or something to get rid of the remaining force.

how about the back end like a zero entry type pool so it pushes you shallow and then a grate in the shallow the water moves through so you cna satnd yes the water keeps going through the grate and the pool floow would ahve to be soft and not abrasive to avoid bruises and cuts!

If you want a stationary wave get on a flowrider. Really this is where it is boiling down to. Just be prepared to drop a couple hundred grand.

the problem with the flowrider, is it doesnt work for surface tricks and stuff. i guess it is good practice for wake surfing though

I've been thinking about doing that for YEARS! You could making a killing here in CDA because of all the wakeboarders and waterskiers and and the short on time! Waterskiiers would be easy, because they don't want a wake, but how would you go about making a wake? Maybe something in the shape of a boat hull in front of the jet? I'm thinking two on either side would creat a reasonable wake, and then you'd have to have seperate jets between the hull and the wall, so that the water flow is even. You could wear some kind of teather like on the jet ski, so it cuts off when you fall.

Maybe like that surf wave in that Wave House thing Idea With High density foam on the bottom in the shape of a wake. The only problem is that you won't have any pull when in the air...
