I know you probably get the same questions all the time but here goes....
I've been skiing/kneeboarding for a few years and I decided I was going to have a go at wakeboarding properly this season (I've only been on a wakeboard a few times over the last couple of years).
Anyway, first time out this season was yesterday. I was pretty crap really. I can get up fine, carve around, cut in and out of the wake. I can do surface 180s and ollies ok as well.
What I want to do is be able to do wake to wake jumps. As soon as I get any height I can't land it (My board slips out). I've cleared the wake a couple of times when I cut in really hard but with no air.
I don't know if I'm on too long a line (16-18m). What would anyone say is the best line length to start out crossing the wakes?
It feels weird to me being so high up - I mostly kneeboard so I don't feel like I'm falling from so high (even though I can get way more air on a kneeboard). I get frustrated as well cause I'm pretty good on a kneeboard - UK female number 1 (but now I'm starting out all over again on something new).
Anyone got any tips? I'm going to a comp for amateurs in 2 weeks with Matt Crowhurst doing some coaching and I kinda wanted to be ok on a board by then. |

Are you holding your edge through the wake? Sounds like your may be flating out your board at the wake. _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |

The way to get air on a wakeboard is totally different from a kneeboard. Getting air on a kneeboard, you flatten out right before you hit the wake. Getting air on a wakeboard, you hold your edge all the way through. _________________ People should not be afraid of their governments.

Yeah I think I probably am flattening off before I hit the wake.
I suppose I've got too used to cutting in on a kneeboard.
I'll try and hold the cut all the way to the wake next time I go out. See if that works.
Thanks for the help guys. |
