Your feet should stay in the bindings / on the board, as far as I've heard.

your board should stay on, however on a big spill the bindings will let go of your feet, like if you did a face plant, the water would hit the board like a cement truck and your board would come off faster then britney spears panties back stage

Hard crash + bindings not releasing = serious injury

yeah, what RadDad said. I saw somebody who did a double up into a dive on purpose to get out of the bindings, but they didn't come out and he dislocated both ankles.

RadDad, Stewie,

i was thinking that. id rather have my feet pop out than mangle my knees, and ankles.

however, im more scared of only one foot coming out.

With snowboarding, I'm used to having the board attached and staying with me on any biff. There are no snowboard bindings at the moment made to come off when you crash. Snow-skiing, the bindings will release. For those not familiar with snow-skiing, there is a tension setting on the bindings which correlates to the amount of force it takes for the equipment to eject off in a biff. More details and such, but that might give you an idea.

I'm guessing that on a wakeboard, if the feet didn't come out, a landing such as nose or tail(end) of the board in a sideways type crash with the feet not coming out would risk breaking the lower leg(s) from a lateral landing not meant to happen. Adversely though, a WB coming off could possibly tweak a knee or ankle depending how the ejection happens.

In kitesurfing, it's recommended to ditch the board leash as soon as possible, as if it's tethered to you, the board is probably going to smack you around like a paddeball.

Ian_82, if one foot only were to pop out, let go of the handle and try planing a little. I haven't tried wakeskating, but there are no feet in there, so I'm a sure a one footed glide should one pop out would be okay - if that does happen, my advise would be to bend at the knees and put that free foot on or next to the binding

I'm a newbie myself, but I was trying to do a W2W (after having done it successfully a couple of times) came off the wake completely wrong, lost my balance, and basically did a belly flop at full speed and only one of my feet popped out of the bindings.

Luckily it didnt hit the board (or the board didnt swing around and hit me).

Was an odd feeling though..

im confused.. my feet are soooo tight in my bindings even if i did a head dive i dont see how my feet would pop out.. the bindings have a built in safety "switch" to let go on extreme pressure? or are we talking about feet coming out of the bindings

We're talking feet just comming out of the bindings...

I use bindings that are very tight, as they should be.
But you have to think about how much force is involved.. The only time I've had a foot pop out is when i was just trying to edge through the wake as fast as i could.. I hit wrong, got air, lost balance, and basically dove head first into the water (at top speed).

It takes a lot to do it. But I'm glad that it came out rather than tore something in my leg or worse, broke something.

I have face plated real bad (had concusion) and come out of my binings that are on real tight. Ankles were sore for a few days but was glad I came out.
I have a friend with pemantly messed up ankels and had to have surgery from coming out of tight bindings to many times.
