|
|
I have been at it for one summer this year i want to get more air. Everyone saids i am a good rider. i some how pull off big grabs and spins with about 3ft of air. i have been up to about 5 but i went straight up and down. i been studing all the tech. for jumping but i need more. i ride a 140 hyperlite motive behind a 88 cheetah with no pylon about 2 maybe 3ft wake not really big.
Last year i edged out of the wake hard and got as far out as i could then came as hard as i could. Then yesterday i tried to do it with tech. and had more control in the air and same height.
I think the stock pull on the boat is pulling me down and my board wont let me stay on edge. two total fin board. people say that on edge it should feel like you are squating and i dont feel it like that you can feel me pull the boat but i dont fly by like other people with four or six fins boards.
thanks for help sorry for long type |

| Get yourself a wakeboard tower or pylon. Your not going to get much air without one. Also get yourself some fat sacs to through in the back to weigh that boat down to give you a nice wake. |

Towers and pylons don't get him more air, they just add to the hangtime / change the physics of a jump. Improving your progressive edge is what you need to work on toughnuts88, not adding loads of stuff to your boat. On WB.com, there are Trick Tips for TS and HS progressive edge; those should help lots. _________________ People should not be afraid of their governments.

| First off I want to say that toughnuts88 stated that he has been studing all the techniques. So I figured he would know about progressive edge and holding the edge through the wake and all that fun stuff, But you are right a tower just adds hang time (my bad), but I would still get one! I would also still weigh that boat down. Bigger wake along with technique will get you more air. (good example: double ups) And I dont think that adding a tower and a couple fat sacs is loads of stuff. Every wakeboard boat you can buy now days comes with both. |

thanks for the help but on the progressive edge i cant really get a fast start my board is a beginners board. alot of people say that the rail is what gives you that great edge.
what do yall think. it is a hyperlite motive with no rails and one fin on each end the fins was a 2.5 and 2.2. but i put a 1 on each end
so i am fixing to move to nashville to the NADC college on june 3 and i am good with fabircating with anything and my parents wont let me my a new board so could i take my fins and move them to the side of the board to get a rail.
thanks for help |

The Hyperlite Motive, if it's an 06, has 3 fins on each side, actually.

One center fin, and two molded-in outer fins. It does say it has a mellower turn, but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get on a good edge. _________________ People should not be afraid of their governments.

Not even seeing what you are doing I can tell you are not edging properly. If using a proper edge you should be able to get good pop from 7-10 feet outside the wake. Cutting all the way out is nearly useless unless you have excellent edging technique. Also, "getting a fast" start goes completely against progressive edging technique. Start slow and progressively build your edge until peaking at the wake. Finally the rail does not give you great edge, using the rail properly is a component of great edging technique. You should be able to edge well on any board. _________________

its not an 06 and i promise it only has one fin but maybe your right i am not edging proper
i let the boat pull then i start to lean back and pull the boat to me the my heels on down and rope in hip. when i get to the wake i stand up off of my edge and go is that right or am i suppose to edge though the wake and stand up at the peak that part confuses me
thanks i think i am getting some where now |

Same for me PMart, when you see those pro's doing high tricks so easy, I'm always wondering...
It takes me lot's of effort to go w2w, and I'm not going that high (and I have Pylon)
I Guess they have more time to train? _________________ * riding finless teaches you to get your edge down properly, when you do it with fins, you'll be able to cut like OJ Simpson

Your board has nothing to do with your problem. If you watch Shaun Murray's Detention, he is riding the same shape board as a motive and he can rip! Try edging all the way through the wake. _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |

i dont understand how it will get me pop when my board isnt flat. i thought when you jump you need to let off of the edge before the peak of the wake.
yes yesterday i got out and i got about 9 but i went straight up and landed before the other wake. i have been praticing on the tramp and it helps in tech.
explain the edge through the wake |

the whole idea of getting air is the line tension...the slow progressive edge buils line tension which should max when u hit the wake shooting u into the air...when u let off the edge before u release from the wake u give all the tension back to the boat and then it's just the air u get from ramping off the wake...try to hold your edge past the wake n u'll just shot up n across huge. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

i did this and i shot up but i have no pylon and it seems to pull me forward and i wipe out
i speed up the boat and this helps keep tension and less of and edge but i clear the wake into the flats with no hang time
do yall know what i did to do besides getting a pylon to keep from being pulled forward. it only does it when i am hitting it hard with lots of edge
i can just lightly hit it and clear the wake with about 3ft high and be fine and smooth
thanks for help |
