Yeah, I don't know why, but I never can go anywhere near as big on my ts jumps as hs. Any suggestions?

Hold a progressive edge all the way through the wake. As you ride up the wake, extend your body and stand up tall. The key is standing up tall at the top of the wake. Many people want to make a hard cut at first and then flatten off. this causes you to loose your momentum up the wake and land on your heels off balance. Take a moderate cut out and flatten off. Look at the wake before making your turn into the wake. This will help you build your progressive edge. Hope this helps.

Later,

Preston

I've found that I unintentionally tend to put more weight on my front foot TS than I should. This causes me to like bash through the wake and not really "pop" up into the air. It's a very simple problem to fix, just distribute your weight more evenly on both feet. I'm sure you already know the "progressive edge" and anyone can recite "Higher Education" or the latest issue of Wakeboarding Magazine to you, so I'm not going to waste your and my time. But, for me, that is the problem I find myself having, too much weight on the front foot. Maybe this will help, maybe not.

I have found that the stand tall position is not considered that same for all people on the TS edge.

Their is a fine line between seated/low and tall/leverage when approaching the wake TS and I don't claim to have it all figured out. What I can say is the closer to the wake I start my cut the more I go up and smoother it feels. People have a tendency to get all hunched over at the hips leaning way too much on the rope, putting them in a unbalanced position approaching the wake and eventually leaving the wake. They get all crunched up thinking they are using a progressive edge and will push off at the wake then they use the mad lean to generate the speed they think they need, this is almost the exact opposite of what you want to be doing.

Stay balanced on your toes approaching the wake with a slight lean on the rope so you drift into the wake with good speed, too fast not good too slow even worse. The trick comes in the hips, don't try to bend the legs too much this is what makes people crunch over, bend them just enough to stay balanced over the board. For some reason people associate bending the legs with leaning forward at the hips, don't do this! Now you can control your approach with the edge of the board not the lean on the rope, this puts you in a more natural position to leave the wake and get mad air. You can simulate the feeling by taking a few pumps at the wake, cut in slow and pump off the wake you should be able to generate a lot of speed by only cutting out a little bit, do this a few times and you will feel what I'm talking about.

I personally find TS wake jumps easy, mainly cuz you can't really cheat, if you do change edge bad things will happen fast. The only thing that can go wrong from here is really a technique related issue. You can do a number of things wrong HS and still bust out a big w2w jump not so easy from the TS edge of the wake.

Also, it looks like you've sucked up the pop from the wake with your knees. Don't do that Laughing

A good way to get your body to recognize what it should feel like when you hit the wake ts, is to just stand there just outside the wake, and edge into it just focusing on popping high, and going only one wake. If you get to where you have enough pop to do a nice grab and 180 or 360 or something, then progressively take it a foot farther from the wake each time until you're hitting the wake that same way on a good edge coming in from normal jumping width.

It's always easier (even though most people don't want to do it cause it's not "cool") to start learning good position for edging/spinning by doing it very small, then progressively taking it bigger...Baby Steps all the way Wink

alright thanks y'all
I guess I'm bending over at the waist and using the rope too much. I'll get it next time I'm out, and I'll try the baby step thing. I'm really coming in from really far out on the ts jumps, and I guess I shouldn't be. No problem, I guess my edging needs more work
thanks Mr. Green

Nathen- On double ups trying not going out so far or going so fast and build up it worked for me.

Make sure the driver hits the 2up perpendicular to the rollers.

i am 100% sure you are not edging through the wake. visualize your position when you hit the wake hs and compare to what it is like ts. most people do not get the same leverage ts as they do hs, because it is a more natural feeling. sounds like you need to stop working on inverts and more advanced tricks and move back to the basics.

if u can get someone to record ur riding, you can usually tell what you're doing wrong. it just won't look right and you can decide how to fix it.

ok... to be sure to cut all the way trough the wake, think about pushing the board with your toes into the water... or just keep enough pressure on the board with the front part of your feet with equal distribution of your weight on both... that's what helped me

You should be able to land the same way you took off i.e. in balance and with both hands on the handle.

So yes, I land TS wake jumps with both hands on the handle unless I'm doing a grab or spin which is usually the case.

one thing that can work is to try to be really "proud" with your chest through the wake..

push your chest up and out, and the handle down towards your hips more..

that should help to get you more pop if you have a progressive edge but your body position is slightly crouched or bent.. it helped me anyways
