i've been wakeboarding for 2 years and i still have lots of trouble jumping over the entire wake, is it possible that its impossible to do so cause of my boat (captiva 192, 165hp) maybe the wake just isnt big enough? or do i just need more practice? my rope is app. 60ft. and i dont have a tower
thank you

if the boat is going to slow then the wake will wash out, get soft, and get wider... the line length sounds good but if your goal is to jump the wake you may want to make it shorter

I use to have the same problem. Last summer was the first time I wakeboarded and I got additicted. But I have a 88cheetah and the wake is about 1ft tall and about 20to 30 ft wide. What I did is try to do a ollie when you hit the wake. This means to push down a little when you hit the wake. dont go all out . this will just give you a little more pop. be sure to use all of the basic techs of jumping.

What speed do you ride at?

Regardless of the type of boat (to an extent) you should be able to clear wake to wake with the right speed/rope length assuming that your level of riding is there.

I ride behind a 2001 20' Four Winns Horizon i/o without a tower.. Until last year I rode 55' at 20-21 mph. Mid season I decided to switch things up and added 5' to the rope to put me at 60'. At 60' there was no way I could clear the wake going 20-21 mph so I had to bump it up to 23mph.

that sounds about right i guess...personally when i wanted to switch things up i found that going longer made me focus 2 much on clearing the wake so i just kept it good n worked on my basics to go bigger...worked out pretty well but this season i think i'm goin back another 5' or so cause i'm goin balls out...

Its all about the progressive edge...I am behind a 96 corsair sunbird without a tower(yet, it is in the mail as we speak) with a 60ft rope, and I clear the wake even if I am only going 18-19, but I prefer to ride 20-22....
