Well, if you're really that desperate to get a sponsor, I say spend the money and sign up for an online profile. I'd recommend Action Profiles (www.actionprofiles.com) and then there is Sponsor House (www.sponsorhouse.com). Action Profiles, if I'm not mistaken, is actually allowing people to sign up for free right now. It's a promotional type deal, so I'm not sure how long that will last.
Whatever you decided to do, you need to do it pretty quickly. With the seasons getting ready to start most of the companies already have their budget spent or are quickly spending it.
Just my .2,
Tyler

| that is retarted if the only reason u want a sponsore is too prove to people u are good. just have fun with it. Not to be critical but with those moves u listed good luck getting sponsored. If those moves could get you sponsored a lot of people will be sponsored |

| austin11, It's not about the moves, It's about how well you represent the company sponsoring you. A sponsored rider is just another advertising tool, and that rider has to do his best to promote the product or service to as many people as possible as effectively as possible. |

hey mate....i just started wake boarding myself...ive had about 2-3 decent sessions on the water. and im fairly sure i suck arse. i dotn know alot...but sounds like ur tryna get a sponsor for all the wrong reasons? i think a sponsor is used for getting real good boarders to higher places...such as getting them to comps they cant afford to get to...getting them equipment they would never get their hands on...all the while the boarder is still just loving being on the water and sees the sponsorship as a bonus...not to impress....not to pull chicks...just to be taking it further?
but all that aside im mad keen on it after my first few runs i called a guy today and im goin to a local social club every sunday from this weekend onwards...hope it helps me to improve
good luck with it all

late, but oh well.
i EXTREMELY highly doubt that you will go close to getting a sponsor. if you want one just to impress people, then you should just quit now. ride for fun, don't ride to make people think you are cool. sure, a lot of people want a sponsor or two, i am one of them, but not everyone can get a sponsor because we want to show off to people at school. not to be an a-hole, but you aren't good, at all, at wakeboarding from what you said in your description. i'm 16 and i have been riding for 8, going on 9, years and i don't have any sponsors. i've looked around, sent pics & vids, and everytime they said no. so i decided to just ride for myself, do the best i can, try to win at whatever competition i go to, and have fun with it. i also realized you just need to let sponsors come to you once you've gotten to a level where you look like you are going far in the sport and have a good attitude and point of view of everything about it. if you really want to step up your riding, you have more than enough time to prove it. some pros are around 30 years old and still riding strong. that means you have about a decade to step it up, show your stuff, and prove that you really love everything and want to go huge with it, and then keep it up for another few years. thats all there is to it. |

| ohio_wake_2008, Try sending something to Cire...they're looking at picking up younger riders from around the states...Carefully edit a video and send them a complete resume. |

| Ctipping, i've sent them stuff in decemb er and they told me they weren't looking for riders then, but they did say to e-mail them when the season is close to starting up. i'm not really sure that i want sponsors though until the end of the this year. i just want to free ride and compete a lot and then get together a lot of good footage at the end of the year and send it to some companies next winter. |

Dude, sponsorships come with pressure to compete. If its not a big shop that you want to ride for, then they may just sponsor if you have a good attitude towards the sport and if they need someone to spread the word. I was considering getting sponsored this summer, but hey, I'm not all that good, and it would be nice, because I'm hella cheap! _________________

The main reason to wakeboard is to have fun, and if you started doing it just to try and get sponsored, it becomes less fun. Almost everyone starts wakeboarding for a laugh and a good time _________________ Stu |

Thats why you need to get more people at your school to wakeboard so you don't have to hang around the football players. And also tell them they suck as laugh damon added. _________________ I love the smell of napalm in the morning |

cg_wakeboarder_69, why do you care what other people think of you, will they like you more because you have a sponsor?
To all the people who say they dont want to be sponsored i think thats a little weird, ya you may get tired of it but if you really love it you wont, and why do you not want sponsors they give you boats, gear and all that stuff |

personally i wouldn't mind having a sponsor...i ride for the fun of it and have decided this season i'm gonna pick up my boarding and start competing a bit...knowing all the guys from my board shop helps cause if i do well enough i'll prolly ride for the shop...this is my 4th season riding though..at the start of it i was about the same as u and sponsorship wasn't even close to something i was thinking about...go out n have fun, compete a lil and if ur good enough it'll just fall into place. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

i can see both sides of why someone would want to get sponsored and why they wouldnt want to get sponsored
pros-free stuff, maybe get to ride for a living which means your career is basically having fun instead of working
cons-pressure of competing...have to be consistent...and not just playing around like an ordinary day on the lake where you are just having fun with friends
its really just preference |
