|
|
A fellow on the forum here saw that I needed a board for my daughter and hooked my up with one. 133 Trip board with Transit bindings. She is stoked beyong belief to get out and use it. In a post toward the end of this thread, a guy mentioned she wont rip on a new board if she can't rip on the (Neptune) one she has. I believe that's true, partialy. The newer bord I think will respond a little differently, but more importanly, the bindings fit her properly, so she wont be riding in pain with her broken little toe that healed goofy. Plus, like the rest of us, just believing that your new board will make you better has some kind of effect that will make you ride better, simply by believing that you will. I think if you have more faith in your board, you will push yourself harder, and if you think your board sucks and is holding you back, you will ride it like it is. Why else do you guys spend hundrends on new boards.

Check my last post on this thread please.
Shes' been boarding for a couple years, but only a little. She can jump, about 1/2 way across the wake. Shes eager and anxious to get alot better this year. The board she has is the right size, but super heavy. And it's a few years old. I'd like a recommendation from somone with experience with a paticular board. She's pretty happy with her Liquid Force bindings, but I'm willing to buy a board with bindings.
Thanks, Darin

| My bad, I was looking at this http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/LI_q8A12 package with bindings. Her LF bindings fit her pretty tight last year. We are actually unsure if she needs bindings this year. I think she'd like a whole pakage. If we go new, like the cadence, she's going to have to work her butt off her on the farm. But I do need the 4 rail fence around 4 acres painted. *hmmm* Also, I got a pm offering to sell me a LF Trip. I really don't know which way to go. I'm sure we want lighter than she has now. And I'm guessing 3 stage rocker for jumping. Demoing wouldn't do any good, she doesn't really know what to look for. But she's drawn to the 'pretty' boards with the cutsie girlie graphics. What a pain buying a board for someone else. Buying a board for your self is hard enough.

About the cadence:
Is the 131 a different shape than the 134? Because in the pictures the 131 looks like the nemesis shape, and the 134 looks like the substance.
Sorry for the hi-jack Darin

Here's the deal, she currently has a LF Neptune 133. It weighs about 6 1/2 lbs blank and 14 lbs with the LF bindings. I've been doing my "research" on the Neptune. It seems like a throw away board from what I can tell. But I'm unsure why. If the weight isn't that much different from the newer boards, whats the other differences. Why should she get out of the Neptune? I was under the impression that the newer boards were alot lighter. Especially since she's not that big. About 5'4 and 100lbs. Do they make a super light and thin board that would be right for her? Or should she just keep using the Neptune. Are the ladies/girls boards any differen than the others? I'll spend some moeny upgrading her if it'll really be an upgrade worth making. Seems likeh the pro get and endorsment and suddenly what ever board they ride is the stuff. Like Air Jordans. But expensive sneaks are a waste of money. What about expensive boards with some pro chicks name on it. Make a difference?

The Cadence is a very light board, the 131 shape is different than the 134, they have all the same characteristics, except that the 131 has a progressive 3 stage rocker and the 134 has an agressive 3 stage rocker. Im about the same size as your daughter, a bit smaller and lighter, but I can tell you that the Cadence 131, which is what I ride, is a very light board. I was riding the State 125 and I feel this one is much lighter. Maybe it is not, but to me it feels that way. If you want a super light but strong board, go check out the Watson, but its going to be more expensive, and probably much too advanced for your daughter.
The board she has is kind of old, if you dont want to spend too much, dont change her bindings, but a new board (with new technology) does make a difference.

| if she can't rip on the neptune, she won't rip on a new board either. if you have money to spend on a new board, get one, but don't expect it to make her a better rider. she has to practice to get better. a new board won't just make her good.

STPHNSN23, this is true, but characteristics may make it easier for her to learn, it does not make her better, just accelerates the beginning learning process because it is maybe more forgiving somewhere, or a little bit easier to edge comfortably. Another board may even just fit a riding style better and add to comfort, confidence, and learning curve.
