Hey, I was curious what towers you Nauti owners have put on your boats. I'm looking at getting a tower for this summer. Thanks!

I have a friend who makes custom towers, so I just paid him to build me one, It looks trick, really similar to the FCT on the new ones. I think he charges 1600 installed with a 2 week turnaround time, and the towers have these really slick integrated board racks that work way better then the clamp on kind, The company is called Launch Towers, located in Nor-Cal

I think the point is finding a tower that doesn't cost 1600 bucks. IMO that is outrageous. I know how much the materials cost and could probably make one for 600 bucks including labor.

One of my riding buddies put a tower from Big Air Pylons on his Mastercraft. It's not the best looking tower I've seen, but it's definitely not the worst. It fits just about any boat and can be had for $990.

Slaytwebeling, that could be good advise, if you could even put a FCT on a Ski Nautique 2001 series....

Hey tiger king,
Peel the CC sticker off the center of the steering wheel, sink your '88 for a nice reef for fish, and buy a nice new Centurion Avalanche. Replace steering wheel sticker. Now you have a nice new tower on a great new CC!

RanMan that is just a stupid post that doesnt help anything. It is a waste of space and not very nice at that. I havent seen anyone say sink your boat. Maybe because their arent any Centurions around from 88 to sink. CC make a great boat and I think everyone would agree the 2001's hull is awesome for wakeboarding. I have an 86' 2001 myself. So unless you have a tower recommendation for him dont post here again.

Okay, Okay, I was just havin' a little fun. Mine is a proflight. Tiger King slammed me a bit on another thread. Just wanted to pay him back a little. No hard feelings. And yes, I agree CC makes a great boat.

BIG NEWS! To retaliate against the French the U.S. has started sending them Centurion Avalanches. The plan sort of backfired though becasue the French actually like them.
j/k Ranman. I actually laughed at your post knowing it was in good fun.
Thanks everyone though who's posted info! I love all the different ideas. Right now is the fun part where I get to decide.

Thanks King Tiger for the humor. Good Luck on your decision. One last thing, I know of some guys that have gotten great results from local machine shops. Might try to check on that in your area.

Tenfootpole..... not sure if they are still in business any more but they had an add in the wakeboard mag that had the exact 2001 hull 1984-86 boat with a nice tower.
It looked strong and clean.....
The key to the tower is not how much it costs or what it looks like it's how ridged is it, if it's not ridged you might as well use a pole.

I know the guy who owns TenFootPole. I am pretty sure they are still runnin strong. I know a lot of people say they have trouble getting a hold of them, but I heard they were workin on a nice new tower! Check 'em out...

We put a "Wake Designs" tower on our '82 Nautique model 2001. It works really well, and folds to below windshield height so the boat still fits in the garage.
The only downside- - - - -putting up and taking down the tower is cumbersome and time consuming. Allow 5-7 minutes each way. At the end of a long day at the lake that time seems like forever.
For the first dozen or so times it's a two person job. Eventually I became sufficiently experienced to do it by myself with confidence.

I have a Airboom tower on my 85' Nauti 2001. Very strong, durable and made of good quality. I would highly recommend Airboom!

Wow, Luke, That's a beautiful thing! That looks like an '87 or '88? I wish mine looked that clean. What all did you do to it?

Luke,
Thanks a great looking ride, was it painted? You can pick those up around here for under $10 in great shape all day long and for someone without a ton of cash its a great boat for the money, it was certainly the boat to beat in it's day. Add a tower and sacks and you got probably the best possible under $10K wakeboarding boat available.
Orzech - If you make your own check out www.diyTower.com, there's likes to some mouting bases that will make the project a lot easier than machining your own or using solid mounts.

MonsterTower- I will second that, my buddies boat has a wake that will shoot you to the moon. Old School 2001 hull Nautique's are the way to go for the low cost
solution.

Luke, That is a great looking boat and you have made me do alot of soul searching! Do I sell the VLX and get a more economical alternative or keep the money boat for life and turn it over to the kids! I really hate it cause my wife doesn't like the water, but the kids do, so???? What to do??? I really found a sharp, great condition 82!

Mike, surely not. I think the 2001 would be hopeless with kids, once you get some sacs in it there isn't enough room to swing a cat around. I would strangle my kid if he had to sit on my lap for 4 hours.

Nice to see all thoes older Nautiques. they're a well built boat and a value in a market where you can spend over $30k for a new one. I have an 82 and only wish I had more time to use it. I recently put a tower on it. Check out icor.com and have a look at their towers. It folds down below the windshield and has a look different than what you normally see. The real bitch is putting them on correctly.

Orzech,
I'm building a tower for my boat. If you'd like some info just shoot me an email. I'm in Rochester so I've done the research on material, bending, etc.

I'd have to say Flight Control, Monster, boss, profilght...in that order. I've heard nothing but good stuff about the monster tower, and flight control really have their stuff down...
