Water in core with no fins?

I was wondering if I took my fins off my Liquid Force Balance, if water will soak into the core. I can see foam in the holes. I just don't want to screw up my board.

Ive put wax in the fin holes on my other board for that reason. Nothing wrong with it yet and its held up good.

What kind of wax? And how?

I think it was SexWax (surfboards) I got a chunk of it, warmed it up in my hands and pushed it into the fin holes until the core was fully covered. Then scraped away the excess wax.
