Ok i am looking to repaint my red pro tec helmet. I'm not diggin the red anymore. I'm thinking black, with various companies logos in white with a different color as the outline. If anybody has a suggestion on how to do this as well, that would be awesome. Last thing, what could i put on the outside to prevent the helmet from getting worse looking over time. Sort of like a clear coat on a car.

If it already has a glossy/clearcoat surface, you should probably lightly sand it with some fine grain sand paper. That would help the paint stick better. Im not sure about what to put on after the paint

yeah the surface right now is really glossy. For laying down the logos, should i do the base as white, then do the outline i want to do and finally cover it up with black?

You should use a clear lacquer to spray on afterwards to prevent the paint chipping etc.

wakeboarderdave1, any sort of clear enamel or clear lacquer will work fine. I live across the pond but if you do a google search you should find some shops or go down to your local hardware store and ask for it. If using acrylic or cellulose paint to wakeskate, then it should be fine, it will give added strength to the underneath paint.

I would sand it down with Ffine sandpaper then prime it, then paint about 3 coats on it, and then the stencils, then clear coat

k, so you think
1.primer
2. base
3. stencils(outline part of logo)
4. stencil (majority of logo)
5. clear coat

Is there anything i can use to prevent the paint from running when it gets wet, or a certain type of paint i should use?

Also anybody have any ideas of colors i could use as the outline that goes with black and white? I don't want it to be plain, like red and blue. I was thinking maybe a bright lime green, orange, and maybe pink. Any other ideas are great.

Wish i could have someone airbrush my helmet, that would be badass.

Thanks

Dave
