I just got a job at a local watersports place and I can get some really good deals on their boards and I really want to try their CWB stuff. I was wondering about three things:

1. Does anybody here own the CWB Marius, or have you demoed it? If so I would appreciate if you would give me some info on it because the concepts seem pretty interesting.

2. Is there a CWB board with the same veritcal pop as the substance? If so any details would be appreciated.

3. Does the torq's hinge tech work well?

Any additional information about CWB boards and bindings is great too.

1. i liked it. its got a pretty unique ride. pretty loose finless. it lands ridiculously soft. its pretty slow for a continuous but it has a nice big smooth pop.

2. the abosolute is the most similar to the substance but the transcend has the most vertical pop from cwb.

3. yes. they are awesome but not nescesarily right for everyone.

here's what i said in another thread
jumalian wrote:
the marius has a sick pop, somewhat abrupt for a board w/ continuous rocker. the edge hold is real tight (w/ center fins in) with quick edge-to-edge transition. it's a little grippy, but still relatively easy to break free. the best thing about the board is its landings. the landings are super soft!

the absolute. it has an abrupt, straight-up pop like the substance, but has a much, MUCH softer landing. also, the absolute is not as grippy as the substance.

yes. makes the bindings real easy to get in and out of, and gives the bindings awesome heel hold down as well.

Thanks for the help guys.

The Headless Chicken, by saying they are not for everyone do you mean they are too tight?
jumalian, so would you put it up there with the top boards this year? Would you recomend it?

I know my choices on their boards came down to a Absolute Platinum or a Marius. I love my absolute, but I think with my boat (smaller wake than most) I should have gone with the Marius.

Oh well, live and learn.

Jama, well i only tried them on real quick at the boat show (with socks btw) they are ridiculously easy to get into and hold you down real well but it seems like if you really like tweaking the stuff out of your grabs they may not be the best. but i didnt actually get a chance to ride in them. and everyone's foot is different so if you have a wide/narrow foot it might not fit just right. DEMO DEMO DEMO.

It should be noted that all CWB bindings for this year can be pulled apart and adjusted if you need. There is a rubber strip that hides the hardware.

i rode the marius for 75% of last season...its just like what people have said above...great pop (controllable, not like the parks) and SUPER soft landings. the thing is...when you learn how to control it, you can ride it slow, or roll it on over onto its edge and it's fast... and it's got amazing pop and soft landings (just to make sure you got that...hahaha)
