Hello all. My mom moved down to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri a few years ago, leaving me with a fantastic vacation spot. I love waterskiing (well, pretty much anything on water, actually), and have been wanting to try wakeboarding. A lot of my friends who do it or have done it tell me I'll love it since I love waterskiing (and who could doubt them?!).
Basically, I'm just looking for a little advice on where to start. There seem to be tons of great resources on what boards to get, etc., but nothing beats people who have "been there, done that." Do you all have any advice? I'm a pretty average build and am wanting to find a board that will be good to learn on, but will also allow an intermediate level of riding. Anything in particular I should look for in a board/bindings?
Lookin forward to chatting with you guys (and gals). Thanks for your help! |

2 of the newbies I ride with bought the Hyperlite motive and they really seem to like their boards. They bought parks bindings for them as well.
One of the intermediate riders I ride with uses one of the motives when he comes out, and he also likes it.
I personally think that a newbie will learn to like whatever board they start with, but that is just my opinion. |

Yeah, as you start off, you get used to your own board.
I learnt to wakeboard on a Liquid Force Evo 134, and that was an awesome board... still use it in fact
But yeah, anything you start with you will get used to and enjoy no matter. _________________ .: McPie :.

Don't fall into buying a so called begginers board. You will end up buying a new board the following year and waisting money. I would suggest a continuis rocker though rather than a 3 stage to start on. Buy the way, you will be giving up sking as soon as you strap on the wakeboard, welcome to the addiction! _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |

continuous.
Buy a used board that's in good shape. There is no advantage to a buying new. Buy bindings that are comfortable. That is the most important thing for you right now. _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

I started on the LF Evolution 138, I really liked it, still have it as a matter of fact.
I don't believe they carry it in the '06 line anymore, well, they do but it's a different name. _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |

I've started out on a HL Essence 131 which many people have told me is way to small for my height (5'11''-6') but I have found it a very good board to learn on and hasn't held me back from progressing. _________________ There's nothing like a good old faceplant to wake you up in the morning! |

That is the same board that I have been riding sence I started and I am 5'10". But now I have ridden my husbands 141 motive (same board different grafics) and it is so much more stable than the 131. I now have a Murray 138.1 but have not ridden it yet. _________________ Its hard being a chick rider, you have to know how to ride, and make sure your still wearing your bikini after busting. |
