Anybody know of any good places to wakeboard around Indianapolis? I think I am going to be moving there later this year and it doesn't look like there are many lakes around there. Hopefully there are some awesome places to wakeboard that aren't that big so I am just overlooking them. |

Sure!!!There is quite a few lakes.Avoid Geist on the north side. You take your life in your own hands when you ride there. We ride at a private lake.Drop me an email if you move...We'll give ya a pull.

Yes.A john boat or sail boat is about all you can take out there.Check out
www.wakeboardindiana.com .A lot of good peeps on there.
The lakes(public) around Indy besides Geist are...Monroe(Bloomington),Catarac(west of Indy, also known as Lieber state park),Patoka(southern Indiana),& Morse(north of Indy). _________________ "We can stand there like the French,or we can do something about it."..Marge Simpson |

Morse and Giest lakes are in the Indy metro area both have a number of boarders on them.
Also if you go north an hour or so to Mississinewa and Salamonie you can find good riding as well. Monroe near Bloomington is on the busy side and it can be hard to find good water on the weekend.
Travel 4-5 hours south and you will find Dale Hallow and Cumberland among a number of COE lakes. |

I'll be riding on Geist this summer. Since its 10 minutes from my house, it kinda makes sense. I'll be looking for people to go riding in the weekday mornings. If you're interested, shoot me a pm.

matt1808, dont listen to todd (jk, but seriously ) geist is fine...as long as you keep your boat on the lift and shower/wash off when you get out. That is the main lake I ride on because I live on it and its just convenient. But there are def. a ton of riders on geist. |

I am moving to Indy this summer. Parents are looking at places in Mccordsville, right around Geist. Is the water that bad? _________________ Looking for a pull in Reno/Tahoe area |

It is bad if you leave your boat in the water for a long time. It will seriously start to grow hair on it . It's not like "hair", but it looks like it and is a #$%#! to get off. If you keep your boat out of the water, on a lift for example, then it is fine. |

how far is it from Indy to Indiana Beach? I've heard there is a lot of boarding there. This will be my first summer in Indy so any info would be good. If anyone is up for some early season riding, I'm game. |

Indiana Beach is on Lake Freeman/Shafer. My grandparents have a lakehouse up there...its allright, kinda rough riding if you ask me. But I've never been there on an early morning, usually only on weekends. On the Shafer side its decent, kinda shallow in spots. Its about 1.5 hours from Indy.

Thanks man, I'm just new to the area and looking for a place to ride. Gotta do something to get me through winter. Where do you go for good water? I've gotten spoiled on early morning runs on a private lake and don't like the rough stuff. Being 3.5 hours from my boat/cabin is gonna be rough. |

I'll be on Geist all spring/summer. Planning to put the boat in next month sometime. I'm all about early morning runs. Geist is pretty smooth in the early weekday mornings. If you feel like goin, shoot me a pm and I'll give you my cell #.

I live and ride on Lake Shafer(home of Indiana Beach). Its a very rough lake which makes it difficult to work in the ski show at IB but hey i manage and wouldnt trade it for teh world. but you can always find some good water to ride. Morning sets are glass up on the river but there are alot of channel changes so youve got to know where your going or your f up your boat bad. anyone looking for lessons or pulls in Monticello area shoot me a PM. I give great lessons and very affordable. holla |

I ride on Cataract weekday evenings. Not hard to find glass through the week. Smooth water on the weekends is hard to find at any of the large lakes in the area. We're usually looking for a third in the evenings...will trade pulls for gas! |

Hi there, is someone still alive in this thread?
I'm from Italy and having a wonderful coast to coast with my wife. I will be spending aug 25/26/27 2014 close to Indianapolis and I would love to get a chance to learn something about how to ride better than I do (I'm a forever beginner). Do you please have an idea about where to find a good location to have some classes and some rides there? Any help more then welcome grazie mille! |
