After watching the baker vid i realize how much i despise stairs and handrails and how disspaointed i am with the current state of skating (unoriginal and too concerned with image).
this vid put a smile on my face and really made me want to skate.

And here's a video of some real STREET skating not stair/handrail skating. It's old but im sure most of the young'ns on here haven't seen it (myself included)

Richie Jackson is an original for sure. He's doing stuff that I woulda never thought of (like that lipslide down the escalator or the mute over the stair set).

I do agree that skating is very focused on image these days, but the Baker team is an extreme example of that. Most other teams aren't quite that committed to the lie. Skating has always been like that, where everybody's doin' the same stuff with a few standout guys.

That first video is awesome. The escalator slide was great. I would never even think about trying that.

I'm on the fence too. I really liked Richie's stuff, but I still really like watching guys destroy gaps & handrails. I do feel like it can be repetitive watching a video full of guys doing flip-in-flip-out grind tricks, but they have their place. If everybody skated like Richie I'd wonder why guys weren't dropping hammers.

My favorite is when guys are able to blend creativity with the modern street movement. Like Danny Gonzalez, that dude is ill. Chris Haslam is another jaw dropper. I haven't decided whether or not I like Ragdoll, but he's definitely got a unique style that catches my eye.

the thing is you cant confine street skating to one element, be it hand rails, ledges, wallrides etc. I'm sure if all people were skating walls and banks id be impressed to see someone doing some huge stair gap. the thing is almost every shot in a magazine is rails, stairs and gaps thats what makes people doing different stuff impressive and fun to watch.

I really like the escalator slide in the first one and the way the guy in the second one seems to have so much control over where his board is at all times... whether he's on it or not
