Are you slipping onto your ass, forward or backwards??? Let go with your back hand to try and to open your shoulders up a bit. Are you used to travelling sideways? If not hop on a skateboard and just practise rolling around to get the feeling of going sideways.

ull find it very weird at first....only jsut learning to stand recently myself i know what its like...i never rode a skate board or snow boarded or anything....basically sit in the water with ur board horisontal....knees bent...and ur elbows wrapped around your knees holidng the rope in the middle of them....when the boat takes off just let ur arse hit ur heels and get dragged along for a little bit....youll be up against a fair bit of water for a second...but jsut hang on tight...as the boat starts to pick up speed just start to lift urself out...and as ur doing that push down slightly on which ever foot...and bring ur hips around....just stay behind the wake to begin with to get a feel for the board...even just going in a straight line....then as time progresses start moving from side to side...and then attack the wake...

hope that helps a bit

Make sure your driver knows how to pull a wakeboarder. They could be letting of the gas which would make you fall. I do not pull people to often and when I started trying to pull my husband and would mess up and make him bust. Otherwise get an instructional vidio, they can help a lot if you do not have someone to help in the flesh.

It just takes practice. Make sure to bend your knees and keep your upper body upright. If you can get up for a few seconds you have the hard part down. Hold the handle at your lead hip, not the center of your chest.

Also dont bend at the waist. That can cause you to go over the front of the board. Yes having the right person driving can make a difference. I am just learning how to pull someone as well.

you could try starting to the side so that when you are up you will not have to worry about the wake because you will already be outside of it. Just make sure that you are on the side that your foot is forward. keep the rope tight. If your pulling yourself up then there will be some slack in the rope and when it pulls out it could mess you up. have fun with it and don't get frustrated this is key

just chill in the water w/ about half the board out of the water. let the boat pull you up. keep ur knees bent till ur ass hits ur heels then straighten them and put ur comfy foot foward.

Some good advice already mentioned. I pull many folks most say I'm a fairly good driver, and for boarders I find just a slow and steady pull works very well for getting people up on the board. I just gradually keep accelerating to boarding speed. That kind of steady pull helps people learning to kinda feel the resistance, and if you listen to the other advice you should be on the water in no time.

Here's one more tip...don't rush standing up. In fact, don't even think about standing up initially. Let your butt slide in to your ankles and hold that squatting position on the board and lean back a little. You'll naturally come up to plane on the water in a sideways slide. Then once you're steady and on plane, then worry about standing up. If you rush it you'll just push the board down into the water and bust. Do that a few times and you'll get the feel of it and know when to stand.
