does anybody have any tips on how to find a good stance for myself?

Some things I've heard that might help. Jump up in the air, and notice how you land. Most likely your feet will be pointed slightly outward in the typical "duck" stance. That's a good starting point to know how much angle to put on the bindings. Then usually go for shoulder width apart or slightly more than shoulder width apart and you're set. Hope it helps.

I put my bindings on without the board connected and then walked up onto the board, grabbed a handle and found the best position. once i had the position i grabbed my lugz and screwed my boots down. Just one more thing you could try.
