ive seen a lot of people posting that they had skateboarded and such before getting into wakeboarding, and im thinking about getting into it as well, but I have no other experince with that sort of stuff, so will it be togher for me to learn?

Also, my dad has told me that the one time he tried to get up it seemed like he just wasnt strong enough to get up, and he's a strong guy, but he said you literally have to pull youelf out of the water with all the suction and stuff, now while i know I wouldnt just pop outta the water, is it really that tough to pull up?

Scorch07, wakeboarding was my first "extreme" sport experience, and I took up snowboarding and skateboarding afterward. It was fine.

Now, about your dad.....
You don't have to pull yourself out of the water. That is a great misconception. The key is to relax and let yourself roll up on top of the water. Think of it as your off the edge of a cliff and a friend is helping you up. You're not going to resist and try to pull against them, your going to roll into a ball and let them pull you up.

Scorch07, anyone can get up, if they know what they have to do. Pick up detention, the book or higher education (dvds).

I know why your dad had such a hard time getting up. He was fighing the natural pull of the board and being strong makes it even harder because my huband did the same thing. He is a very muscular guy and the harder he tried the worse it got. Most people will tell you girls can usualy learn how to get up sooner than guys because they do not try to muscel it.

Ye, It's definately not muscle strength that gets you up, I'd be screwed if it was! You don't need any experience in "extreme" sports, just some sorta balance helps.

the first time i ever tried getting up i was trying to to let the boat pull me out of the water like skiing. that is not the way to do it my friend. i was just pushing water until the rope snapped out of my hands. while in the water stay in a ball (athletic position) and roll your toes forward while standing up as the boat gases er up. anybody can get up on a wakeboard with a little advice.

i dun no but i didn't think wakeboarding was an extreme sport

surfing 30 foot + waves = extreme
doing 250+ km/hr in a car in a street race = extreme

getting pulled along behind a boat at 30+ km/hr = not extreme

i wouldnt call any of the sports on the X GAMES an extreme sports... although they are sports i wouldnt categorize it with the word extreme...they more of a fun thing to do in my opinion...extreme is an overly used word that you hear at monster truck shows

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY... WATCH THIS WAKEBOARDER JUMP ON A SLIDER THAT IS ON FIRE FIRE FIRE...WE CAN GUARANTEE IT WILL BE EXTREME EXTREME EXTREME!!!
